We had to double check this to make sure we weren't reading it wrong. Newspaper The Guardian has published a piece defending video games, stating that children denied access to games are "deprived" of a "rich and magical experience". It's all gone a bit hippy-ish over here. The opinion piece, penned by writer Naomi Alderman, calls the recent government report by Tanya Byron "eminently sensible", and even defends Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto. ...

It's a well-known fact that Crytek is porting its CryEngine 2 tech that powered Crysis to console, but it's yet to confirm whether it's working on PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the PC FPS.

It MUST be happening though; and expect the visual quality of the first-person shooter on both consoles to be the equivalent of, or very close to, high graphics settings on Crysis on the PC. Well, that's the suggestion from Crytek engine business ...

Imitation, they say, is the sincerest form of flattery. So Nintendo, prepare to be flattered if latest reports on plans up Microsoft's sleeve prove accurate.

MTV News is claiming to have received information from a developer that Microsoft is currently working on a controller for Xbox 360 that features Wii Remote functionality "and more," and that such a device could well be out before the end of 2008.

This is said to ...

360 - Xbox 360 - DVDstruction - April 8, 2008

In this week’s very special edition of DVDstruction, we cover a strange time for movies. On the one hand, there’s not much in cinemas as we desperately await this summer’s action blockbusters - starting early May with Iron Man. Yet, on the other, we’re starting to get all those Oscar-baiting dramas from last winter trickling onto DVD and Blu-ray. Never fear, moviegoer - we’re here to steer you through the ...

A newspaper is offering cash for your stories on how videogames made you "turn to a life of crime."

A listing on recruitment site StarNow, a hub for actors and musicians looking for jobs, has appeared reading, "a national newspaper wants your story and will pay hundreds of pounds to the right person."

The listing comes in the wake of last week's Byron report, which made newspapers all across the UK, some with questionable ...

360 - Xbox 360 - DVDstruction

There's a whole lot of singin' going down this week on your PS3... and what's left of your 360's heap of high-def obsolescence. Wait where, you going?! It isn't all bad. Just... mostly. Even more so, since Paramount’s abrupt HD DVD cancelations have taken Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as a casualty of the format war. ...

360 - Xbox 360 - Microsoft DOES have a sense of humour! So far we've managed to ignore the tsunami of April Fool's jokes that's rampaged across the internet (we think), but Microsoft's put too much effort into its own Xbox.com tomfoolery to be ignored. The Xbox 360 Wireless Helmet, Xbox Live: The Board Game and Xbox 360: Vintage Edition are among the spoof products on the newly updated official site, as well as slimmed down 'Recon Edition' which looks straight out of Tom Clancy. Second party dev Rare ...
