The new date will provide a more optimal launch timeframe for the open-world action driving game featuring Vin Diesel. In addition, Midway also confirmed plans for a pre-launch Wheelman demo that will be available via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

Game companies have been announcing holiday products for the last few weeks and today marked the first day that PWN or DIE started receiving our virtual Christmas cards from the various games.

Midway Games sent a Wheelman holiday card which featured Vin Diesel in a Santa outfit while Activision and Radical sent a nice little video greeting from the game Prototype featuring Alex Mercer.

Console Monster writes: "We have just added the Achievements for The Wheelman on the Xbox 360. The achievement list suggests the game will contain a fair few missions, as well as a great chunk of side missions which include Street Showdowns, Taxi, Rampage and more. The list doesn't seem too difficult to obtain a decent amount from the game though the full 1000 will prove to be a challenge for some as 100 GamerScore is rewarded for completing all the side missions with an "S" rank – and with a lot of side missions, this will take a lot of time, as well as skill.

Wheelman creative director Simon Woodroffe has told VideoGamer.com that he thinks sandbox gaming elements such as bowling and dating in Grand Theft Auto IV are boring and not developed enough to warrant replaying.

"Yeah, there are elements of GTA in the game - and there are certainly elements of Burnout. I think our driving, the accessibility and the speed of it... that's more Burnout than GTA. But we've got an open world, a compelling story and a whole bunch of side missions - and those things are all GTA," Woodroffe told VideoGamer.com at a recent London press event. "We don't have a sandbox - you can't go bowling or go on a date. All that stuff is all well and good, but personally it doesn't appeal to me. It seems like a good idea but actually it's quite boring after a while, because in all of those mini-games, the micro-mechanics haven't been developed to a level where you'd want to play them over and over again."
