360 - Virtua Fighter 5 - Sega Ships Virtua Fighter 5 for Xbox 360 "Virtua Fighter 5 has shipped to North American retailers for the Xbox 360, publisher Sega said today.

The latest installment in the arcade fighting series comes to the 360 with an all-new online two-player VS. mode over Xbox Live.

"This is the moment Virtua Fighter fans have been waiting for - online head-to-head fighting for Virtua Fighter 5," said Rick Naylor, director of marketing at Sega of America. "The introduction of online play opens up the Virtua Fighter competition arena to a global scale, enabling players to compete and challenge anyone, anywhere, anytime, using Xbox Live."

Players can select one of the 17 characters and customize a character in the game's Quest mode, opening up costume changes and a range of unlockable and earnable items."

Oct. 12, 2007 Virtua Fighter 5's been kick-punching its beat-'em-up excellence on PS3 for a while now, but the Xbox 360 version is so close, it's out at the end of the month. But before it blasts onto the scene, a 674MB VF5 demo has released on Xbox Live, allowing you to test it prior to splashing the cash. 360 - Virtua Fighter 5 - Virtua Fighter 5 demo now available on Xbox Live Marketplace Major Nelson just updated his blog with the message that a playable demo of Virtua Fighter 5 has arrived on Xbox Live Marketplace worldwide. The game has been available on Playstation 3 since launch but SEGA decided to bring the game on Xbox 360 as well, as the sales of the Playstation 3 version disappointed. The Xbox 360 version now even features online multiplayer!

The demo weighs almost 700MB and is available for free. The full version of the game is slated to ship on October 30.

360 - Virtua Fighter 5 - Online Multiplayer Patch for VF5 PS3? Xbox 360 owners rejoiced when Sega and AM2 announced that their version of Virtua Fighter 5 would incorporate long desired online multiplayer features, but PlayStation 3 gamers who'd picked up the game earlier in the year felt left in the cold. A Games Convention 2007 interview with AM2 Assistant Manager Tohru Murayama at Total Video Games, however, provides hope for the future.

Murayama acknowledged that PS3 owners are disappointed and suggested there was "no doubt" AM2 could theoretically release a patch to add online multiplayer features to the PS3 version.

360 - Virtua Fighter 5 - No VF5 360 for Japan? Eurogamer has learned that the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 may not be released in Japan due to the console's low installed base.

Speaking at last week's Leipzig Games Convention, lead designer Tohru Murayama said "it's true" that 360 has not proved too popular with Japanese gamers.

He continued, "We haven't decided if we'll release Virtua Fighter 5 [on 360] in Japan because of that.
