CVG reports: In the latest round of release date confusion surrounding Epic's Unreal Tournament III, Midway has said the PS3 version has now slipped to early 2008 - but the developer's informing a Christmas 2007 release could still happen.
Midway today announced an exclusive PC collector's edition for the highly anticipated first-person shooter, Unreal Tournament 3. This limited edition is encased in a special tin hard cover. Included is an Art Book featuring the flawless art style found in the vehicles, characters, weapons and environments that are signature trademarks of the Unreal Tournament 3 universe. In addition, the limited collector's edition includes bonus DVD extras.
Much ado has been made about the potential presence of cross-platform play in Epic Games' upcoming multiplayer-heavy shooter Unreal Tournament 3 (PC, PS3, X360). The most likely compatible platforms have been PC and PlayStation 3, as the Xbox 360 version has taken a development backseat and the PS3's approach to network architecture is more conducive to the kind of freedom Epic would want for such a service. PS3, unlike Xbox 360, also supports mouse and keyboard controls, which would allow for a more potentially level playing field between users of the two platforms.

Epic Games VP Mark Rein tells Next-Gen that currently, "nothing has changed" regarding an expected November release for Unreal Tournament 3. A post late last week by Rein on Unreal Tournament 3's official forums had cast a shadow of doubt over the game's proposed November release date for the PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game.
