Sony has signed a deal with Electronic Arts and FIFA to be the official partner for the FIFA Interactive World Cup, which kicks off this October. The announcement means that players from 25 countries from around the world can compete to be the world's number one player over PlayStation Network, as well as real-world FIWC 08 qualifying events scheduled to take place in the coming months.» Read More

FIFA 08 is getting a 10-player online mode as a downloadable extra on Xbox 360 and PS3. Great news, certainly, but it's come as quite a surprise to us at GR. You see, EA's 'Be a Pro' and 'Be a Pro Co-op' modes are so new, even EA developers we spoke to recently reckoned that the mode would be 2 v 2 for the year's sports titles, before being taken to its logical conclusion of 11 v 11 at some point in the series' future. EA announced some new details on the next iteration of the FIFA series at Leipzig. FIFA 08 will run at 60 Fps on both systems and feature 30 leagues, 575 teams and 15000 players.
An announcement also came regarding a post-launch downloadable extra mode which will allow gamers to play 10 person 5 vs. 5 matches online. Up to 10 consoles (EA said PS3s, but we're assuming it will be available for the 360 too) can connect online for true member-of-the-team online football action.

Electronic Arts announced today that FIFA 08 will include a new feature called Be A Pro: Online Team Play that allows 10 people anywhere in the world to connect online to play a single match of FIFA 08. This feature will be available to both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game and will be free to download six to eight weeks after the release of the game.» Read More

FIFPlay is not an official site of EA Sports but that doesn't stop it putting suggestions about FIFA and FIFA Manager to EA's developers. The site has now received over 5000 ideas and suggestions about how to make the next FIFA better than all the rest.
There are a lot of good ideas on there, with most people asking for indoor football and every league and team in the world to be included in the new game.
