Mr. Driller Online has been confirmed for release this Wednesday by Microsoft and Namco Bandai. At 800 Microsoft Points, Namco's popular Mr. Driller character comes to Xbox LIVE® Arcade in Mr. Driller Online. Featuring the same addictive single player drilling action from the classic arcade game, Mr. Driller Online now includes online play. Last week Namco announced an arcade classic for Xbox Live Arcade in the form of Mr. Driller Online. This upgraded version of the original Mr. Driller includes high definition graphics and a variety of multiplayer modes and was slated to have a Spring release in Japan and other regions.
The achievements for five upcoming Xbox Live Arcade games have been revealed by Xbox360achievements.org. The games included in the list are Rocky and Bullwinkle, TiQal, Mr. Driller, Lost Cities, and Battlezone. Lost Cities was just recently confirmed as coming to the XBLA, although no exact release date is known. Mr. Driller, however, may be a surprise to some. The puzzle game from the Playstation has not been officially announced for the Xbox Live Arcade, however we are now confirming that it is in the works and hopefully will be released soon. TiQal, the unique puzzle game, will be hitting the Arcade this Wednesday, March 26th.
Mr. Driller Online takes the classic drilling action of the Mr. Driller series and adds online play. The basics are the same: drill down through layers of colorful blocks until you reach a goal depth. For single players, the game offers Standard Driller and Quest Driller modes. Things heat up in the four player online mode, though, which offers split screen Solo Battle, where players aim for the top score, and Tag Battle, where teams of two work together.
Gamefront.de (German) reports that Namco has confirmed Mr. Driller Online is coming to Xbox Live Arcade in the latest issue of its magazine, Side BN. The game has already been cleared for release by both the American ESRB and the German USK age ratings boards.
