Addict Gaming Writes: "Today, Midway announced the release of an all-new gameplay FIGHT video for the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe videogame. Along with the FIGHT video, four additional characters have been confirmed for the famous roster including The Joker, Kitana, Jax and Green Lantern.

This latest, in-depth video showcases the innovative fighting mechanics found in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, including Klose Kombat, an up-close brutal fighting mechanic that shows progressive damage on each fighter and Freefall Kombat, giving players the ability to engage in kombat as they fall from one arena down to the next. 360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - 'MK vs. DC Universe' Writer Dismisses Superhero Concerns, Asks Fans To Lighten Up MTV Multiplayer writes: "There's a reason Scorpion can fight Superman in "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe," but game's scribe (and veteran comic author) Jimmy Palmiotti says it doesn't really matter.

"Why is that guy fighting that guy?" said Palmiotti during a brief interview at Comic-Con. "Well, ha! Why? Because it's fun, that's why."

Comic fans up in arms about the unrealistic nature of the fighting mash-ups weren't the only ones with concerns, though. When Palmiotti and fellow comics veteran Justin Gray were brought in to work with Midway and DC, they found the two sides didn't see eye-to-eye."

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - Ed Boon knows Mortal Kombat will be better than Street Fighter Destructoid writes: "The guys at ArsTechnica have recently done their part to help rekindle the feud between Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Years ago, when Mortal Kombat was shiny, new, and very gory Ed Boon and Capcom had quite the verbal sparring match. At this year's Comic-Con, it looks as if Boon is not ready to hang up his gloves quite yet. When asked by Eurogamer if Mortal Kombat versus DC Universe was still in the running against the Street Fighter series, Boon had this to say:

'I think just from the history, we do. I think we'll kick their ass.... we're a wilder ride-a big rollercoaster ride-and they're a little bit tamer.'

Capcom community manager Seth Killian had this when prompted at Capcom's booth:

'You can't touch the mechanics of Street Fighter, and [SFIV] is really channeling back the classic mechanics that ignited the world... Mortal Kombat was riding the coattails of Street Fighter then, and I think Mortal Kombat may be riding the tails of Street Fighter as we move into 2009.'

Personally, I'm a bigger Mortal Kombat fan. Street Fighter IV is looking very smooth, but I'll take split-punches and spears over fireballs any day of the week. What do you guys prefer?"

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe: Cash-in? There's no denying that the collaboration between the two franchises will be financially beneficial for both, but exactly how cynical are the publishers being about this "product"? Very, would be my answer.

A rather distasteful realisation sprang to my mind today when reviewing some updated screenshots of the title - many of the characters from the DC Universe appear to have been granted variations of moves already seen in the Mortal Kombat series, as can be seen here, with Flash using Cyrax's dash move to stun Superman...

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - 'Mortal Kombat' Creator Wants To Make 'MK vs. Street Fighter vs. Tekken vs. Virtua Fighter' MTV Multiplayer's Patrick Klepek reports:

"I didn't know what to expect of "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" before seeing it at Comic-Con 2008. Then I saw it and.. loved it. I'll have more on my impressions soon, but in addition to playing the game, I sat down with "Mortal Kombat" co-creator Ed Boon.

Boon doesn't just love "Mortal Kombat;" he's a huge fighting fan in general. It's part of the reason he wanted to cross the "Mortal Kombat" universe with another world of characters. If this cross-over is a success, I asked Boon if it might open some doors to a collaborating with another series."

"We have very high sales expectations for MK vs DC. I can't tell you the exact number, but historically if you look at the franchise, every new MK on a new platform has done best. It's always enjoyed that upward trend. With this instalment we really think we're going to set another record."

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - Mortal Kombat 9 Planned As A Mature Return To Form Kotaku @ Comic-Con: We sat down with Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon tonight to chat about his latest project, Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe. Once again, we pestered Mr. Boon about the scrapped version of Mortal Kombat 8, once described by the long-term Midway dev as being heavily inspired by the look of Gears of War.

While that grittier, darker version of MK didn't make it far beyond the technology development stages - Boon told us there was little in the way of concept art for the grimier spin on the series - the next next Mortal Kombat may strive for more blood, more violence, more of everything that warrants an M-rating.

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - Ed Boon: We Scrapped Mortal Kombat 8 Kotaku: At last year's Midway Gamers Day, Mortal Kombat co-creator and series overlord Ed Boon talked up the then-unnamed eighth entry in the franchise. Boon described Mortal Kombat 8 at the time as "very dark, serious" and "gritty" take on the series, a back to basics reboot that was free of "vibrant, saturated colors." It was said to be heavily inspired by the look of Gears of War.

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - Mortal Kombat vs DC To Be Rated Teen Ripten's Jon Christensen writes:

"About a week ago we received the news that Mortal Kombat vs. DC was in fact going to have Fatalities. While this remains the case, in a interview with with Gametrailers.com Ed Boon stated that he may at some point be interested in publishing another M rated Mortal Kombat game in the future.

"¿I also wouldn't rule out doing another M rated Mortal Kombat game."

That pretty much guarantees that this next installment of the MK universe will be rated teen. Some of you might be asking "how can the game include fatalities if it's rated T?" The answer is simple¿ they will likely tame them. "

"GameSpot: Have you made any more headway on the fatality versus finishing

Ed Boon: Yes we have. All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes who don't kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don't actually kill the opponent."

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - 'Kollector's Edition': MK vs DC survey asks what you want X3F writes:

Hot off the heels of announcing a new podcast related to the development of the upcoming fighter, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, a potential list of special edition extras was teased today. Gamers on Midway's mailing list for more info on MK vs. DC were treated with a survey earlier today that asked which extra they would be interested in if a "Kollector's Edition" was made available.

Possible extras include:

* Comic Book
* Art Book
* Soundtrack
* T-shirt
* Animation Cell
* Exclusive DC video
* Making of MK vs DC video

To be honest we'd like something a bit cooler that deserves the extra few dollars. Not that an art book isn't nice, but how about a statue of Batman punching the lights out of Sub-Zero? Or you know, Kryptonite. In case Superman loses it and someone needs to take him out. Think we'd still prefer the statue, actually.

A 17- and 16-year-old have been ordered to stand trial after killing a seven-year-old girl by "imitating moves" from the Mortal Kombat games. Heather Trujillo, 16, and boyfriend Lamar Roberts, 17, were supposed to be babysitting Trujillo's half-sister Zoe Garcia when they seized the opportunity to drink alcohol and "hit, kick and body-slam" her, in a beating that police said imitated Mortal Kombat. Witnesses say Roberts performed ... » Read More

360 - Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe - Finishing moves will appear in new MK, says Boon Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has responded to claims that fatalities are to be removed in the forthcoming MK vs. DC Universe, revealing that the popular feature will instead be modified.

Speaking to Gametop, Boon stated, "There was never any statement on our part that fatalities will be gone or that finishing moves will be gone."

"We did acknowledge that we won't be able to do the same kinds of outrageous moves, like tearing someone's head off and the spine being attached to it."

"But there are a lot of assumptions that there will be no blood in the game, that there are no fatalities in the game. It's an assumption that, because the DC characters will be in there, those features will have to be dropped. My response is that, no, we're modifying fatalities," he added.
