Major League Baseball 2K8 is a baseball game for the PlayStation Portable. Its brothers on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 have done great jobs after their release, and nothing less can be said about the PSP version.

The Clinton's didn't spend their pre-speech prep early this week playing team deathmatch Call of Duty 4.

One of the only public appearance by the monolithic video game industry at the week-long Democratic National Convention in Denver this week was by Microsoft and its Xbox 360.

Microsoft's State Government Affairs folks set up shop in a back bleacher section of the Rocky's Coors Field during Tuesday's A Day at Coors Field. Their demonstration area was packed with flat screen televisions, Xbox 360s, copies of MLB 2K8 and of course one large couch.

Aeropause: "On Thursday, 2K Sports was nice enough to invite Aeropause to their conference call for the upcoming title, MLB Power Pros 2K8. The conference call was about 45 minutes in length, and allowed the writers invited to ask questions with the producer of the title, Rob Nelson. The game is a unique partnership, with Konami designing the game in Japan, but with distribution coming through 2K Sports."

PlayStation 3 outsold Xbox 360 for the third month in a row, but the Nintendo Wii overshot the combined sales of its rivals, according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter.

Ahead of March's NPD Group sales data, due to release this Thursday, Pachter forecast PS3 sales of 365,000 units, edging out sales of 310,000 for Xbox 360.

In a Monday investor note, Pachter predicted that Nintendo will come out on top for yet another month, with Wii sales of 700,000 during March's five-week retail period.

TVGB: "Last month 2K Sports, part of Take-Two, released MLB 2K8. Because Take-Two has exclusive third-party rights to make MLB games, every baseball gamer who has an Xbox 360 and some PS3 gamers (most will go for MLB 08: The Show) flocked to get this game, me being one of them. Yes, I did read the reviews and saw the comments about some bugs and glitches, but from what I read the good outweighed the bad. Besides, 2K Sports had said they would be releasing a patch to fix the issues. Being someone who has played PC games for many years now and downloading many patches I said to myself, "Thats ok, been there dealt with that.""

2K sent over word to Loot Ninja that they're working on some patches for MLB 2K8 for a few issues. Mainly, the framerate issues are being fixed on the Xbox 360. But that's not the only console with stuttering issues. The PS3 version is about the same in terms of the slowdown in the field.

When asked about a patch to address these issues on the PS3, a representative for 2K had this to say:

"At this time, these are the only updates 2K Sports is working on for MLB 2K8 for these issues."

The Cool Base alternate jerseys and three minor league stadiums (that apparently couldn't fit on the disc) that 2K had promised would come at release are now available in the Xbox 360 Marketplace. Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Hadlock Field, and Legends Field are included. As previously stated these are free to download.

In an interesting twist the content is currently only available to Gold members. Even though it was intended to be included with the game and is meant to go to everyone it seems that the same restrictions placed on demos has been placed on this free content. Thus Silver members are currently unable to obtain the content that they were promised. Hopefully 2K gets on top of this issue as it was a shame that those without Live would miss out completely and it would be ridiculous that people who are connected but just Silver members would have to wait a week to get it.

Also the first pack of trading cards has gone up. In a pleasant surprise "Card Series 2? is free as well. I don't know if there is a way to see what cards are included in the pack but it's safe to assume that they're related to player movement such as adding a Johan Santana Mets card. I checked on both Santana and Erik Bedard and while Santana's card requirement was the same Bedard's was different with it now asking

Another list has been released and this time up, it's 2K's latest installment of the MLB series.

The game has 45 achievements totaling 1000 points. It has a 700/300 single player/multiplayer list for those interested. 100 of those single player points are allocated to MLB's infamous card system.

IGN reveals an extensive list of living legends and rookie stars to be included in MLB 2K8. The roster includes Ken Griffey Jr., The Big Hurt and Pedro Martinez, among others. IGN also lists a rookie class team for each year dating back to 1997.

2K has sent over a few screenshots showing off the "Big Head" mode from MLB 2K8. These actually remind me a little of The BIGS in their look as they appear to fall more on the exaggerated side than going way overboard.

The March issue of Game Informer has made its way out and it includes an article on MLB 2K8 that mentions a few previously unknown details about the game.

Apparently the 360 version of the game is lacking the unlockable stadiums and Cool Base alternate uniforms that the PS3 version has. Because of that they will be made available on release day as free downloadable content. While this shouldn't bother those who have access to Xbox Live, those who don't will miss out on the content completely which is unfortunate.
