A departure from the action real-time strategy formula seen in previous Kingdom Under Fire games, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom is an action-packed role playing game (RPG) that makes full use of the Xbox 360 processing power to create a revolutionary gaming experience. Players will explore vast and randomly generated maps while battling bloodthirsty monsters attacking from all directions. As the game progresses, the six heroes will find increasingly advanced and spectacular ways to defeat enemies using new weapons and abilities as they progress through six varied acts. Players will also be able to interact with one another with a full multiplayer experience and up to four-player co-op on Xbox LIVE Gold.

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom will ship to retailers nationwide on Jan. 8 for an estimated retail price of $59.99.

In Seoul for the Gstar 2007 international game expo, Gamasutra has learned that Kingdom Under Fire developer Blueside is working on three new projects: one project for Live Arcade, one for an unnamed handheld, and one large-scale project more along the lines of the company's traditional work, which also includes the Q Entertainment-produced Ninety Nine Nights.

"One thing I can tell you," embellished Dee Lee, head of Blueside division 2 and manager of production and business development, "is that we're going multi-platform with Circle of Doom, so that users can play against each other on Games for Windows Live. So we're trying to diversify our platforms. And we do also have plan to make tiny games. Live Arcade is one thing, and that handheld game¿"
When Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom releases, we'll bet that some critics will tear into it, criticizing the game for its mind-numbing button mashing and its Dynasty Warriors-like repetitiveness. But wouldn't that be a bit harsh? You might as well fault Halo 3 or Half Life 2: Episode 2 for being just another "me too" shooter about a mute holding a gun in front of his face.

Although Circle of Doom promises to add some RPG elements to its RTS/action formula, it does look like ...
Oct 9, 2007

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom's hacky-slashy take on role-playing is one of the coolest variations on the "one man vs a sea of enemies" theme we've seen in a long time, and much of that is down to the uniqueness of the monsters you'll fight. Button-mashing your way through mobs of things that want to kill you can get monotonous quickly, but Circle of Doom already looks to have enough unpredictability and variety to keep things ...
Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom will take a slight departure from the franchise's traditional RTS/action formula, focusing more on role-playing elements this time around. But from the looks of things, you'll still be smashing your way through oceans of enemies, which is fine by us.

There's something to be said for tossing waves of monsters against a single dude and turning the wailing electric guitar rock up to eleven. There's beauty in the simplicity of button-mashing action titles like ...
Following yesterday's screenshots from the Kingdom Under Fire series' jump to Xbox 360 and switch to dungeon-crawling action, the first trailer has arrived - rapidly strike the movies tab above to see it.

Although it's not quite as stirring as we were expecting - spending a little too long lingering on the scenery rather than the (great-looking) combat - it's a promising start, and hints at how hectic the action will get with a full four players furiously windmilling ...

Phantamgram Entertainment's Ninety-Nine Nights, despite the collaboration with Tetsuya Mizuguchi and his music group at Q Entertainment, wasn't received well as Xbox 360's first-party answer to Dynasty Warriors. The company's not giving up on the genre, however, having enlisted BLUESIDE, a studio comprised of "core members" from the original KUF team, for another sequel.

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom will actually ditch the strategy elements of the previous games, in favor of a strictly action RPG approach. Additionally, BLUESIDE promises randomly generated landscapes and dungeons and a storyline that link Circle of Doom to the previous KUF games. The game's lineup of heroes is comprised of characters from the series.
Microsoft announced today that they will publish the next installment of Kingdom Under Fire. Subtitled Circle of Doom, this new chapter swerves from the traditional action-strategy formula of earlier Kingdom Under Fire games into action-RPG territory. The press release (which unfortunately arrived with no accompanying art) flaunted the power of the 360 by proclaiming such features as randomly generated dungeons and landscapes and thousands of on-screen enemies.
