Once Again, VGChartz has updated its sales charts for the week ending on October 27th. Surprise, Surprise!! Guitar Hero III finds its self at the top of the charts lead by the Xbox 360 version with 166,041 units sold. Wii version of GHIII find its self at 7th place with 52,691 units sold. GHIII for the Playstation 2 comes in at a moderate 12 place with 42,017 units sold and finally the Playstation 3 version with 36,081 units.
The Wii version of the new music title ranked as the No. 1 offering at Amazon's Computer & Video Games division, outranking the SKU for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 at No. 7 and Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 at No. 40.
A number of internet forums are buzzing with complaints from gamers regarding faulty Guitar Hero III controllers. Some posts indicate that buttons will just flake out over a random period of time with the detachable neck of the controller being the expected culprit for the respective bug. If the problem is indeed with the detachable neck then you can bet this one will be pretty wide-spread and these aren't just isolated problems.
Those who fired up their new copies of Guitar Hero III yesterday might have been disheartened to find that the game lacked the offline co-op quickplay mode. Luckily (for a portion of you, at least) that's going to be addressed with a quickness, thanks to a patch that 1UP says is coming this Tuesday to Xbox Live.
Kotaku writes: "When I got the first email about this I thought perhaps it was some shipping mistake, but as more reports come in, it seems like something else my be afoot. Apparently, folks who have purchased Guitar Hero III from Wal-Mart are reporting that the game comes with the old guitars rather than the new ones".
Neversoft/Activision have upped the achievement count in GH3 to 59. Some of them will require playing online ranked matches via Xbox Live. One of them requires you to beat a GH3 developer. Of course, returning are most of the familiar GH2 achievements. Some of the newer achievements are rather silly (Button Masher), while others seem near impossible (Enlightened Guitarist).
According to early tests conducted by IGN, the most compatible controller is Xbox 360's Guitar Hero 2 X-plorer model, which works with both upcoming titles, although you cannot use the special effects to the lack of a five-way switch. The GH3 Les Paul controller works with everything except the PS2 version of GH2 (played on a PS3, natch) and, like the X-plorer, cannot activates effects.

Several distribution companies are receiving complaints this morning as the street date for GH III has been broken. Sears is the best known retailer to release the game early so far. No word from Activision yet on any repercussions.
Joystiq may go crazy over Harmonix and Electronic Arts' love child Rock Band, but data from IGN's GamerMetrics reminds us that the franchise has a ways to go if it wants to overtake its distant cousin Guitar Hero III.
The magazines Alternative Press, Decibel, Guitar Player, Kerrang and Paste will give players a chance to see their names in print. Activision has also signed up notable musical instrument and equipment manufacturers including Gibson, Crate, Krank, Mackie and Zildjian, and companies with little to do directly with music at all, like Pontiac and Axe, so their products can appear in the game.
Activision announced this morning that just about every song to ever appear in a Guitar Hero game will be available on iTunes under Guitar Hero Essentials. A total of 1,300 guitar anthems on 20 separate essentials awaits to be downloaded.
