Fracture

A sci-fi third-person wargame in which you play a soldier who can reshape the very terrain around you. Makes digging the enemy's grave a lot easier. The level design is linear, but the central gimmick is fun, if a bit shoe-horned in at times. The backstory is surprisingly good and will keep you going through the more annoying and humdrum parts.

Earth-shaking multiplayer that's as chaotic as it sounds
Jul 13, 2007
Crazy-as-hell shooters are nothing new on 360 and PS3, but the earth-moving gameplay found in Fracture easily sets it apart from the rest of the pack. Almost every gun you have is built around upheaving and receding the ground around you. Even the everyday guns have alternate functions that burrow underground and detonate, blasting dirt and debris in all directions. If last year's Black was spanktastic for gun fans, Fracture is full-on dirt ...   » Read Full Fracture preview

We dig deep into the game's features with the help of its producer
Jul 13, 2007
We had a chance to speak with David Perkinson, producer of Fracture at LucasArts. The first time you see the game, you might wonder what's special about it. It becomes clear after a few moments. Hidden under its vaguely Halo-like exterior is a new type of gameplay. Your weapons can literally reshape the world of the game, raising hills or opening pits beneath your opponents. Want to know more? Watch the video! July 13, ...   » Read Full Fracture preview

LucasArts announces new ground-bound war set to shake the Earth itself
May 3, 2007
Whats your idea of the perfect handheld weapon? A gun? A bazooka? A glowing laser blade? Yeah, thats all pretty good; but the minds at publisher LucasArts and developer Day 1 Studios (they made the MechAssault games for Xbox) think they may have found something even better for Fracture, their new third-person shooter due mid-2008 for PS3 and 360 – how about a mountain? Okay, not exactly a mountain, but not far from it. In Fracture, you play Mason Briggs, a futuristic soldier whose ...   » Read Full Fracture preview
