GameDailyBiz Reports: Today, Microsoft announced that a demo for Forza Motorsport 2 will be available "soon" on Xbox Live. More of the game's lineup of cars was also shown here. Forza Motorsport 2's release date was also confirmed for May 15.

"At this point, there's little doubt that the PlayStation 2 was the clear winner of the last generation, beating out long-time champion Nintendo's GameCube and newcomer Microsoft's Xbox for the title. However, as we all know Microsoft is not a company to be easily deterred, and with their latest console, they look to claim the throne for themselves this time. Key to that plan, the Xbox 360 got a head start, plunging into the market a year before the other two consoles when all was said and done (the PS3, as you might remember, suffered delays, missing its mid-year launch in 2006). That fact alone, being the first next-gen console available to consumers, certainly seems to have helped the system, as even with only a handful of truly must-have games, it still managed to sell nearly ten million units last year.

However, now that the PS3 and Wii are both out on the market, this competition is really going to start heating up, and you better believe Microsoft is bringing it's "A" game. In the PS3 section of this feature, we extol some of the games heading to Sony's newest, but as great as those look, they are matched closely by the second wave of Xbox 360 titles. We got our first glimpse of this with the action shooter Gears of War late last year, followed shortly by the superhero sandbox title Crackdown, and soon we'll be strumming along in a port of the PS2 hit Guitar Hero II...and neither of the latter two games (Gears of War wasn't eligible of course) even made it on our list!"

Dan Greenawalt analyses how physics ideas shape the feel in race car driving.

In the GDC lecture entitled Force Feedback in Racing Simulation, Forza Motorsport 2 Lead Designer Dan Greenawalt went into great technical depth about the physics, control, and feel of racing games. His team, Turn 10, has solved many issues with Forza 2 by digging deep into their physics engine and by finding the right balance between ordinary driving and real racecar driving.

"I wish every copy of Forza Motorsport 2 came with a designer in it," said Greenawalt jokingly. "That way we could ask people, 'Do you really drive this way in your own car?'" Greenawalt's comment is the basis for much of his team's core goal in designing Forza 2. Their montra was feedback, feedback, feedback. "People know how they want to drive, they know how they drive in their own car, but how many people have driven 180 miles per hour in a 10-cylinder racecar? Most people tap-tap-tap the controller, I do it myself. But if you did that in a Lamborghini you'd instantly spin it out every time."

Today, Microsoft and Turn 10 unveiled a newly designed page that showcases some of the ways you can get your Forza 2 fix when you're away from your Xbox 360 this May. By logging into the site with your Live account, you'll gain access to a host of cool features to whittle away your time away from your console.

Your primary place on Forzamotorsport.net will be the "My Stats" page. As confirmed today, Forza 2 will have a Photo Mode that goes a bit further than most console games have in the past. After taking your in-game shots, you'll be able to go to the store and view up to 5 of them on the Forza 2 webpage at any given time.
