Admittedly, the relevance of this clip is negligible considering that Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 hit shelves at the close of 2006. However, GamerSquad thought it somewhat poignant considering the recent slamming of Heavenly Sword by Dead or Alive creator Itagaki Tomonobu, who recently labelled the eagerly anticipated PS3 exclusive as being "half-assed."

Point being? Well, with predominantly poor critical reviews for Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 (GameSpot ¿ 59%, IGN ¿ 64%), perhaps the Team Ninja boss should curb his scathing criticisms while reflecting on this overtly desperate piece of flagrantly 'half assed' and sexist marketing for a game built on tantalising the easily titillated pre-pubescent school boy demographic.

Clearly Tomonubu has never heard it's not the breast idea to throw semi-naked stones in glass houses.

When Microsoft proudly showed the Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 trailer at this year's TGS, I felt embarrassed for them. This was the game the company was pinning hopes and dreams on? Come on. DOA X2 is anything but mainstream and appeals only to a small segment. Hardly a title worth giving that eXtra push to. Well, turns out I was wrong, and Microsoft Japan was very right. Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 has cracked the top ten in sales, coming in at number 7 and moving 45,065 copies in its first week. Wow, just wow.

It seems that Japanese gamers really have a different taste compared to the US. Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 has been received pretty dissapointing here with IGN giving only a 6.4, but the Japanese are pretty positive about the game, giving it a 7.5 on average.

Tune in for some more marks given by the newest edition of the Japanese gamesmagazine Famitsu.

Yes, you've read it right. In the top 10 poll of the most popular magazine in Japan, Famitsu, Xbox 360's RPG Blue Dragon has just managed its way up to the 3rd most anticipated game in this country, surprisingly leaving behind titanic titles in the region like Metal Gear Solid 4 and The Legend Of Zelda.

This is the first time ever that an Xbox or Xbox 360 game reaches such high levels of anticipation in the land of the rising sun. Big names like Sakaguchi, Toriyama and Uematsu and the massive advertising in Japan are undoubtedly the causes behind this achievement some would call a miracle.

November 6, 2006 - Tecmo today announced that the sequel to the favorite tropical island sports game, Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2 for the Xbox 360, has gone gold and will ship November 14th to retailers.

All nine of the DOA girls are back to the beach soaking up the sun, splashing in the waves, and frolicking in the pool on New Zack Island. Jump on your personal watercraft and beat your opponent with style and class as you race around the island. Dig in deep as you bump, set and spike the ball to victory. Prepare for intense pool action as you battle for glory with Tug-of-War, Pool Hopping, and Butt Battle or grab an inner-tube and go careening down the slippery Water Slides.

Let no one doubt the power a popular anime artist and a popular RPG developer can have on a system's success in Japan. 1up is reporting that pre-orders for the 10,000 limited edition Blue Dragon Xbox 360 bundles are selling briskly, with some retailers running out of stock within minutes. This is the same console that barely sold 2,000 units in the country last week, making the healthy interest all the more surprising.

Is this sales surge a temporary blip due to a collectible bundle, or will Microsoft be able to parlay the interest into a sustainable market share in the country? Either way, we'd advise Microsoft that a boob-filled bundle for Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 couldn't hurt in the land of the giant huggable Kasumi pillow.

Microsoft and Tecmo generated a whole lot of controversy following the announcement of a life-size inflatable Kasumi cushion that was bundled with special Dead or Alive Ultimate Xbox bundles. Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 fans won't be getting anything nearly as wild, but they will have a chance to make their 360 look a whole lot more attractive.

Tecmo will release a special Xbox 360 faceplate to coincide with the 11/22 Japanese release of DOAX2. The faceplate, which features Kasumi in a two-piece, will retail for 3,000 yen and will be sold through the Tecmo Online Shop and videogame outlets throughout Japan.

There's no word yet on the availability of this faceplate in America, so those wanting to make their 360 look real nice will want to consult an importer.

With PlayStation 3 looming, its performance so far has hardly been auspicious - but Xbox Japan boss Takashi Sensui believes that Microsoft's efforts with 360 in the Far East will finally come to fruition this holiday.

While the bulk of media and consumer attention at last week's Tokyo Game Show was focused on an overwhelmed Sony stand, Sensui insisted that his struggling platform was finally receiving the content to match the value proposition to turn around Microsoft's fortunes in a territory which has thus far largely shrugged at a console the West has embraced.

"Japanese consumers are somewhat reluctant to take in new brands, particularly if the brand has come from outside Japan," Sensui told GamesIndustry.biz in an exclusive interview during last week's event.

"We've been here for several years now and we've launched a new campaign this summer for 360. The response has been very positive - people now feel they're very close to 360, that it's more relevant to their lives and particularly for gamers that Xbox 360 is the best platform there is."

Key to Microsoft's optimism this holiday is a triumvirate of 360-exclusive titles, spearheaded by Mistwalker's hotly-tipped RPG Blue Dragon and including Capcom's Lost Planet and Tecmo's Dead Or Alive Xtreme 2.

Microsoft have released a list of games that will be featuring at this year's TGS. There are not many surprises, apart from the omission of the game everyone wants to see: Halo 3.

There are also a couple of games I have not heard of, such as Super Robot Taisen XO, so it will be interesting to see exactly what that turns out to be. Of course, it could be a Japanese title, since the event is in Japan, and might be an attempt to try and sell more 360s to the unwanting Japanese public. The games are as follows:
