I have never played WoW. It looks really cool and really fun. But Im not paying 15 bucks a month to play a game online....
  • ObliqueZombie - September 27, 2012 10:50 a.m.

In hindsight, that $15 a month is nothing compared to what most "Free-to-play" MMOs make you pay to progress (or simply have fun). Guild Wars 2 is an exception, however.
  • zombi3grim - September 27, 2012 4:07 p.m.

Exactly, if Guild Wars 2 can be a good MMORPG, then theres no reason for a monthly fee. Guild Wars 2 proved it can be done.
  • KnowYourPokemon - October 1, 2012 8:40 a.m.

Guild wars 2 really didn't prove anything, plenty of MMOs DC Universe, Aion, LotrO, etc have had F2P models for a while now and some of those games were on the brink of defeat until they became F2P. Guild Wars 2 is just doing it from the get go.
  • zombi3grim - October 1, 2012 12:28 p.m.

And its getting rave reviews and selling out alot more then those other MMO's you listed. Guild Wars 2 actually did prove something. You can have a successfull MMO without charging a monthly fee.
  • KnowYourPokemon - October 1, 2012 12:42 p.m.

Because it's doing so from the get go. Seriously, thats all it did right. The MMOs I listed are still doing pretty damn well.
  • zombi3grim - October 1, 2012 6:26 p.m.

Are they doing as good as Guild Wars 2? Thats what I thought. Stop trying to show me up, you little turd.
  • KnowYourPokemon - October 2, 2012 6 a.m.

Haha. Is that what you do whenever anybody has an argument against you? They're automatically a little turd? Funny. Seriously Guild Wars 2 is a great game but this pedestal people put it on is freaking ridiculous. As for who does the F2P, or in guild wars 2's case Buy to play, model better? That's subjective for a lot of current MMOs, if this were a few years back I'd say yes Guild Wars 2 beats them all since back then most of them were Pay to Win MMOs. But these days? Guild Wars 2 does the transaction model on about the same level as a lot of other MMOs right now. Though it also depends on what you want from the game. For example, once SW:ToR goes F2P it's great for people looking for the story to it, though if you want to do the raids and be able to PvP without a weekly limit then you can still subscribe. And considering how great the stories are for that game it's a pretty damn good deal. Just face the fact that what Guild Wars 2 did right was start off without a subscription which is a mistake a lot of the more recent MMOs have been making, at least in the current MMO market. So, good for them.
  • KnowYourPokemon - October 2, 2012 6:10 a.m.

Welp I will admit to this, I misread that as "Are they doing as good as Guild Wars 2?" as "Are they doing it as good as Guild Wars 2?" Oh well, but anyways, on that subject I can go into how the fact that Guild Wars 2 started without a subscription attracted a lot more people to it. But that's nothing I haven't already admitted to, Guild Wars 2 did the right thing by starting without a subscription in the current MMO market.

2004 called. It wants its argument against paying monthly for an MMO back.
  • Bonefox - September 29, 2012 2:34 p.m.

    Haha, yes! That was funny

My god you are the most idiotic, fucking stupid person I have EVER come across on this site. You dont even realize what your posting do you. You have the equivilant of a "I know you are but what am I" argument. So everything you just typed is you saying you're NOT telling us to NOT play the game. Ok. I give you that. Fine. So, you still havent answered the very basic question. What the fuck are you arguing? What IS your point? What are you trying to prove? That you know about WoW and we dont? That you think its a good game and we dont? That we're not looking into it deep enough and judging it based on pandas? Do you NOT realize how fucking stupid that makes you look? You're arguing for the sake of arguing. I dont know what you're trying to acomplish with this. And yeah, I AM going to keep replying to you. Its how I am. Ask anyone on this site, Ive turned 2 pages into 24 pages by saying just ONE word as a reply. So you MIGHT wanna stop.
