Guinness World Records: The Videogame

Dedication's what you need...

We feel a Guinness award for ‘longest sustained eye abuse’ is due. Dear old Guinness Book of Records – that venerable bible of inanity – churned out every year just in time for the Christmas holidays. If you know who owns the largest collection of airplane sick bags in the world, you’ve probably got a Guinness tome gathering dust at home. And if you’ve got the book, you may well be considering buying the game.

Well, here’s a tip: don’t. It’s not very good. The idea is to navigate the globe, smashing world records in the various countries you’ll visit – records that include flinging cow-pats and eating planes. The games are so shallow that you’ll have zero desire to return once completed. Flick the remote to head-butt a watermelon, shake the Nunchuck to chew some cockroaches… you get the idea. If you love your facts, stick with the book.

I have this game and it is brilliant - me and my kids play it all the time - it is easily one of the best minigame compilations out there and the majority of minigames in are great fun - you will always find a few minigames that don't appeal in a compilation - as long as most are good fun then you can't argue.

The reviewer seems to be missing the point - I think the games have to be 'shallow' and quick so young kids can play them and so you're not waiting around for yout turn for ages.

I've read other reviews which give a much more level headed appraisal of its good and bad points and Eurogamer have even called it the best minigame compilation on the Wii which is praise indeed. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/guinness-world-records-the-videogame-review
