Watch this Atomic Blonde trailer NOW: a Bond movie with Charlize Theron as Bond from the director of John Wick

What would it look like if Charlize Theron was cast as the new James Bond? I imagine it would look a lot like this new red-band trailer for her new spy thriller Atomic Blonde.

Theron appears to be back in full-on Furiosa mode here, and if the movie lives up to the promise of that trailer, I imagine there are going to be quite a few Halloween costumes this year based on her hard-drinking MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton.

If that bone-crunching, 33-second single take fight sequence in the hallway wasn’t enough to clue you in, Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch, one of the co-directors of the original John Wick. From the look of it, Leitch’s propensity for showcasing jaw-dropping action has carried over to this film, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Most mainstream modern movies still rely on shaky cam or quick cutting to hide unconvincing action, but Leitch - a former stuntman - recognizes the value in establishing clear geography in a scene and allowing the audience to actually watch a shot play out as fully as possible before cutting away.

This looks like a sexy, energetic spy thriller, and the stellar supporting cast and killer song choices are just icing on the cake.

Directed by David Leitch and starring Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, Sofia Boutella, Toby Jones, and John Goodman, Atomic Blonde blasts into theaters on July 28, 2017.
