Tokobot Plus: Mysteries of the Karakuri review

  • Cute, cute, cute
  • Puzzle elements handled nicely
  • Budget price
  • Camera angles
  • Lots of jaggy graphics
  • Controls could be smoother

It’s a crazy world. We all expected the PSP to get its fair share of ports from the PS2. Recently, though we’ve seen a number of PSP to PS2 ports with Mercury Meltdown and Liberty City Stories all making their way over to the PS2. The choice of porting Tokobot to PS2 seems a strange one.

You control a human who is aided by a number of tiny robot helpers who make formations with you (called Joins) to traverse mazes and traps and defeat enemies in a variety of dungeons and ruins. There’s a convoluted story about ancient civilizations and uncovering treasure. If you’ve played the PSP version you’ll know it well, as this is almost a direct copy of that game with a few extra levels and characters grafted in.
