The Queen Of Versailles review

Documentary about the financial downfall of a wildly ostentatious Florida family

It's perfectly possible to like the title character of Lauren Greenfield’s documentary – Jackie Siegel, the trophy wife of a time-share mogul with plans to build America’s largest private home in Florida – while detesting everything she represents: grotesque financial inequality, jaw-dropping ignorance and appalling bad taste.

It’s just as easy to enjoy watching her hubby and large brood brought low by the credit crunch while still finding something to admire in how clothes-horse Jackie makes the best of it – even if that does involve reckless spending sprees, plastic surgery and visiting McDonald’s in a limo.
