Fiftieth anniversary special "The Day Of The Doctor" has just hauled $4.8 million at the American box office - and that's one night's takings alone. The 3D adventure was shown in 660 US cinemas on Monday night, two days after the episode had screened on BBC America.
This made "The Day Of The Doctor" the number two movie in America on Monday. The Doctor-mashing celebration was just pipped by Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire (cue mass shaking of fists at Katniss...)
And it's homeland performance? £1.8 million at the UK box office.
Behold the power of the geek wallet. Someone, somewhere, is surely listening...
