Terminator, To The Highest Bidder

According to Coming Soon (via The Financial Times, but you need a logon to get on their site, so there’s no point linking to that) the rights to the Terminator franchise will be auctioned this month. Terminator is apparently a rare example of a blockbuster franchise not controlled by a big studio. All the big film studios have also registered interest in the rights, with Sony Pictures a leading contender, with Summit Entertainment, the company behind the Twilight movies, and Media Rights Capital, which produced Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno, also sniffing around. The rights are being sold by Halcyon, which produced Terminator Salvation, and will give the buyer to make new films, TV series and other spin-offs.
