      I don't really think that MetroidPrimeRib or Db1331 were really trolls, just that they opinions that they stated in a strong manner that would cause an uproar of some kind. Speaking of KinkiKong/Trip-Toe-Fan/Whatever else he used, I think I remember one of the first ones I remembered seeing that guy as was BigKingBud but I'm not for sure. Anyone else remember?

      David Houghton, I hate you so much that my hate for you has inexplicably congealed into this pulsating and critically lethal mass of gelatinous glop that oozes a ridiculously powerful substance, the nature of which I can't describe in any other terms than this archaic term used by proto-humans to encourage reproductive relations. It was like a four-character scrawling that stated with an "L." Trying to say that I opposite-of-hate you by saying I hate you without saying the L-word when I really don't despise you at all.       Call me strange, but I think Minecraft does the idea of survival-horror better than a lot of other recent games. Think about it, early on, you're constantly afraid that a skeleton or creeper can sneak up and destroy you. Not only that, but there is a certain kind of panic you get when lava starts to flow in and you drown in the stuff. The isolated atmosphere makes it all the more unnerving.

      i think having a character that controls like a crappy tank is conducive to the survival-horror genre the modern games have refined controls to the point it's quite straightforward to deal with any threats, back in the PS1 era just turning around was a monumental effort while some horrific creature is chewing your leg of.

      Nintendo has ruled handheld and console sales the last 7/10 years. Completely dominated this generation. People act like they've been struggling. The Wii U might not be selling fast or the 3DS but anyone giving up on Nintendo is stupid.

      I like this approach. I don't think Nintendo wants to not show up because they think they're inferior, i think they don't want to show up because they don't want to be in such a stupid situation. I've seen panels and booths for games alone in conventions that are either awkward or just plain unecessary. Microsoft is probably going to use cheerleaders, strobe lights, a barabque, a fireworks show, and a whole parade just for announcing a new Halo.

      Yea i totally agree, I think Nintendo is trying to distinguish itself further from the rest of the crowd by putting some space between them, rather than saying we feel we even have to compete with you. There's a few articles that show the lineage of the wii and Nintendo games and how they captured certain markets. It's on www.newlyreleasedgames.com you should check it out.

      I agree with this; Nintendo definitely seems to be getting its head together recently. But I really don't think EarthBound being re-released is all that telling. If Nintendo really did care, they'd have given us EarthBound way back, on the Wii's Virtual Console. It's not like people have only just started asking for it now; it looks like they only caved after Miiverse pressure following its release on the JPN VC. Yes, it might indicate they've had a change of heart, but really, the whole thing didn't require much effort by Nintendo, so it's stupid that we've had to beg so long for something so entirely reasonable. Could be a watershed moment; a release of MOTHER 3 will be a LOT more indicative of Nintendo's acknowledgment of its fans, but they need to strike while the iron is hot; EarthBound alone just seems more like appeasement by this point. But the MOTHER series aside...the direction the 3DS library has been taking is certainly gloriously hardcore.

But seriously, I think there are plenty of other characters who are just as eligible as Lara to compete for the vague yet prestigious title of most real hero of current gen.

      Think it says more about gaming heroes and heroines if Lara, a girl with abnormal intelligence and an hourglass figure, who can take ridiculous amounts of damage and becomes an expert in archery in little over a couple of days, is the most realistic of them. She's certainly an improvement on the old Lara and female characters in general, but I still struggle to find her realistic.

      If they moved everything onto the cloud so that I didn't have to pay for a decent computer to run it, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. But people have to pay for a decent gaming machine and THEN pay for the game which doesn't even work as it should... that's a piss take. The always-online thing is a very bad thing for consumers. Just like others have said - they will just shut down the servers in 2 years max and then we'll all be forced to buy the next game. I hated the fact that they were doing it with games like Fifa but at least with those games you could still play offline with your mates etc. Now it's just a case of you can't play at all. I hope EA does a total exclusivity thing with Microsoft then I can just buy the PS4 and forget about those shitheads ;)

      I didn't have to wait for SimCity to come out to tell you EA was freakin' incompetent! Look at all the outstanding issues with The Sims 3. After YEARS of that game being out, and they still can't pinpoint the half freeze issue? Yeah right. People have to rely on third party fixes to solve their issues because EA is either too lazy, stupid or just don't give a damn! This is nothing new here. Just more of the same old EA. "Forget fixing issues. Lets just make more DLC, sequels and garbage to pump money from the wallets of the consumer" - Somebody somewhere in EA, I'm sure of it.

      IMO, I'm still waiting. While I love my PS3 and many of it's games, I'm still on the fence about the PS4. Though I suppose that's from being spurned by the PS3 initial release. Here's hoping things turn out WAY better than before. (Be less that $500 please!)

      Sigh Maybe I've just become a cynical old man but i feel the PS4 and the games shown are uninteresting and underwhelming. I feel there is no place me in the modern gaming world and that the types of games i enjoy are not being made, and if they are made they are few and far between and get looked down upon as shallow and old school. Oh well. At least the indie scene who grew up playing the same types of games i did are making something worth while whenever they can get their heads out of their asses and stop make physics based puzzle crap.
