A London screenwriter with a murky past and missing wife, Martin (Sebastian Koch) is targeted for seduction by the vampish Angelique (Lotte Verbeek) at his daughter’s (Rebecca Night) birthday.
The next day, Angelique is found dead in the Thames.
But when her twin sister Therese (also Verbeek) shows up, Martin is again tempted and reality and cinema start to blur, as his scripts play out before us.
Director Mike Figgis ( Leaving Las Vegas ) aims for an intellectual, erotic thriller, but what we get is wooden, pretentious and clichéd. Meta-bollocks.
