Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D trailer hints that game may contain zombie-punching

If our hands-on descent into the throes of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries wasn't enough of a taster of how the new 3DS spin-off will work, maybe it's time to take a look at the game's trailer all on its own. Here's what Capcom has seen fit to reveal to you, their adoring public: all things considered, it's pretty generous with the eye candy.

Above: The latest teaser for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries for the Nintendo 3DS

At first blush, the trailer presents the title less as a mini-game (even one worth completing RE5 just to unlock) stretched out to cartridge-filling size, and more like a greatest-hits of the last two RE titles, with any and all story elements replaced by added opportunities to punch zombies in the face. What do you think of the action on show? Would you pay $40 for a standalone Mercenaries? How mad are you that I'm just calling Ganados and Majini “zombies” like they're all the same thing? Wow! That looks fantastic! I can't wait to rock with Hunk's Neckbreaker. That's the move that made me wanna play Mercenaries more, instead of being terrified of it :D And to all of those who say this might suck, think of it as a delicious appetizer for Revelations.

They're all zombies, if you ask me.

    Not zombies. Period.

Oh boy, I can't wait to play as Hunk! He was awesome in RE4's Mercenary Mode. Speaking of which...where's Leon? Am I supposed to think they WON'T put him in there?

Claire looks so awesome. Code Veronica was my favorite.

Could anyone please tell me whether I should be concerned by the fact that there's only one analogue stick? I'm left handed and the thought of using my right hand to write on the touchscreen makes me worried, as I can't use my right hand for anything. Can anyone confirm/allay my fears?

Do you know what I saw in the trailer? Aiming/reloading and walking at the same time. Maybe it's old news, but I'm glad to see this confirmed. Can't wait for the zombies to claw at my fingers =)

You know what's really stupid? I had to watch a commercial before I could watch...well..the commercial I wanted to see.
