RadioRadar podcast 046: Uncivilized

This week we talk about Nintendo, which is funny, because it's also the first week in a while where Henry isn't here. Even so, we discuss the recent Top 7 and talk about some of the biggest news stories of the week.

Also, don't forget to join us in this month's Game Club as we tackle Tim Schafer's Psychonauts.

Hosts: Hollander Cooper, Tom Magrino, Lucas Sullivan, Ryan Taljonick
Question of the week: What franchise are you excited for a next-gen sequel to? Answer to win a free game, or some other awesome thing!

I seem to have a nack for being the second to last person for QOTW and not winning... And I did send you guys a jingle for Tom. I sent it to Greg.

I have said this a million times, and I will continue to say it: Freedom Fighters or Timesplitters. PLEASE.

I would like to see a next generation Poy Poy game. I don't know if anyone got to play this joy of a game but it was perhaps the best object throwing game of all time. Good object throwing games are underutilized and with the introduction of better particle mechanics you could really feel like those boulders, logs or ice blocks are smashing into other characters heads. This game was awesome on the PS1 and I can only dream of the hi-def boulders that could be thrown at virtual kids now days. This could be a great game for the Kinect. I could imaging it would be fun to mime rock throwing and see people on the screen get flattened by what you throw. Or on the PS4 it is so much easier to add all 4 characters now than it was on the PS1 why not release this as a downloadable offer? So please Konami bring back Kool, Joey, Bubba and the gang! The world is waiting.

First time poster from South Africa Two games I'd really like to see Legend of Dragoon Or Blazblu , you know maybe a new IP from arc system, with a BAJILIION FRAMES of animation in 2D awesomeness that can make you eyes bleed!

Listening to RadioRadar in Mozambique! Feels good to have a new episode here on holiday.
  • mafyooz - July 15, 2013 8:15 a.m.

I'd love to see a sequel/reboot of the Colony Wars games, in fact the whole space-fighter sim genre needs resurrecting :)

The answer to the QOTW is obvious: Motherfucking Fallout, We saw what The Elder Scrolls maxed out on current gen could be with Skyrim, but I feel we never reached the full potential of The Fallout franchise. The jump to a new, next-gen engine will be a hell of a leap forward, creating a fully explorable, living breathing, beautiful, horrible, post apocalypse. And maybe, MAYBE, even have a bug free Fallout.

The next Uncharted game or Naughty Dog's next project. Naughty Dog pushed the limits of the PS4 and made extremely cinematic, beautiful and compelling games. I'm really excited to see what they have to offer in Uncharted 4.
  • supergiraffe - July 13, 2013 5:41 p.m.

Is Beyond Good and Evil to obvious? If it is, I'm going with Mass Effect, I love the universe. And I hope you guys have fun with Gloom, I totally picked up Avalon because of you.
  • ProjectAlpha - July 13, 2013 2:34 p.m.

I'd like a Next-Gen sequel to Pac Man World. I dunno, I just thought butt-bouncing in HD would be fun.
  • SpadesSlick - July 13, 2013 1:45 p.m.

I have zero expectations of it actually happening but a sequel to Lost Odyssey would be pretty awesome. It was one of the few 360 rpgs actually worth a damn; criminally underrated game.

This, a billion times. Loved that game!
  • Bix96 - July 13, 2013 12:06 p.m.

Easy Persona, Atlus has been teasing us with spinoffs, remakes, winks and nudges for this entire console generation and its been far to long. Persona 5 is my Half Life 3.

For me I can't wait to see a next gen Bioware title, really looking forward to the new Dragon Age, hoping it lives up to the name unlike DA 2, but the next Mass Effect entry would be really cool too.

This was such a moist podcast! (You're welcome Tom! ^^) QOTW: Fatal Frame. Hear me out, I know the series has had a rough patch after 2, but I think that's because the people making them forgot what made the series special in the first place. Which is the creepy, haunted setting and the sense of vulnerability you can only get by being in the shoes of a little girl armed with nothing but an old camera. A next Gen Fatal Frame would greatly benefit from the benefits of both this HD generation and the enhanced AI and particle effect of the upcoming one. Imagine a game similar to the first two, but this time in HD, with ghosts that behave even more erratically or unpredictably, some stalking you, like some of the infected in The Last of US do. (Except Ghosts wouldn't be limited by walls....) All of this while the ghosts could look even more ethereal and creepy by making some of them be formed out of thousands of particles of mist floating around.

I Would like to see.. a next gen mega ma... oh that was canceled... ok uh I'd like to see Prey 2 OH that's possibly canceled too.... Well. . . FUCK IT! I Want to see a REALISTIC(ok somewhat realistic) Pokémon game that deals with the fact how dangerous their world is in a serious light. The fact that children are allowed to own creatures with unnatural and quite lethal powers as pets and the fact that there are monsters ranging from being made from solid rock to godlike creatures that control the weather, elements, space and TIME ITSELF... THAT CAN BE ENSLAVED to battle essentially to the point of death! Now...don't get me wrong, I like Pokémon as much as the next person. It would be the same old adventure, just in a darker pallet. Scyther For LIfe.
  • omega1180 - July 13, 2013 8:31 a.m.

Oh and maybe a nextgen F-Zero.
  • DarthEnderX - July 12, 2013 10:26 p.m.

My answer to the QotW is pretty much going to be the same as the answer to the "What dead franchise would you most like to see come back". So...either Legacy of Kain, or TIE Fighter. Also, WTF is my PokeRadar!
  • shawksta - July 13, 2013 10:46 a.m.

^^^^^ This so much, there's been lots of info and new Pokemon revealed especially 10/10 designed Kraken with the face of that parrot from Scooby Doo. I think its because Henry's on vacation and he's basically the host of the show who bothers.

I realllllly want a next-gen Jak & Daxter. I loved the characters and am greatly missing the fun gameplay. It doesn't even necessarily have to star Jak & Daxter though, and could even be the start of some new trilogy within the series with some new characters. As long as it contains more of the same great gameplay, characters, story, and imagination as the previous ones I'd be overjoyed to see it. I love Nintendo platformers but other studios can do it great too with R&C seemingly ending, now would be a great time for a comeback.
