RadarPlays - Super Mario Bros. 2

Super Mario Bros. is one of the most famous games in the world, but its curious sequel leaves players with many questions. Such as, why does Super Mario Bros. 2 play so different from its predecessor? Why is Luigi now taller and skinnier than Mario? How involved was series creator Shigeru Miyamoto? And where is the Warp Zone to World 4? You’ll find answers to all that in this RadarPlays Retro as we continue to celebrate the year of Luigi. Lets-a-go!

Want to hang out with GamesRadar's editors while taking a look at retro games, new releases, and totally random experiences? RadarPlays is for you. Mondays we'll be checking out blasts from the past on RadarPlays Retro, Wednesdays we change things up to whatever we feel like playing with RadarPlays Shuffle, and Friday is packed with the strangest titles you’ve never (hopefully) heard of in RadarPlays Freaky. We'll also release RadarPlays for all the new releases, so be sure to check back!

i remember i didn't have the game when it came out, but this one kid in my friends neighborhood had it and so my friend got to go over to his house and play it all the time. so i had him draw all the levels he could remember on a bunch of pieces of paper for me just so i could sit and stare at them when i was at home. i don't remember when i eventually got it. but i beat it. and it's actually my favorite mario game ever.

"I sped ran right into the ocean!" That was great, as was the whole video.

I still love that Birdo is a guy confused about his gender. Also, since the ending of this is that it is a dream, do you think that this is were the writer for the Sapranos got their ending?

im really glad to see y'all play this game because it's not only my favorite NES mario game but my favorite game to hear GR commentary in from the old super mario all stars FAP

Strangely, this was the first Super Mario game I ever owned, so it didn't seem unusal to me. I had played the original SMB at other people's houses, but found 2 more interesting (it was also the only one I knew every trick in, and could beat). Good vid. Tho I can tell that you guys didn't spend a lot of time playing this back in the day :P

This was awesome and nostalgic to watch Since this is Mario Bros 2 related, i would like to share a theory Wart appeared as the villain in Super Mario Bros 2, and as a cameo in Legend of Zelda Links Awakening. Both games turned out to be dreams by Mario and Link. Now Mario and Luigi Dream Team is handling Luigi and his Dreams and its POSSIBLE we may see the return of Wart considering its matching up the DREAM theme. Now the question is, will we get him as a Cameo or as the villain? Also Henry, Sticker Star, that game deserves praise for what it was, sure its not Thousand Year Door too but it supported itself well.

Wart making it in as the big bad would be pretty awesome, it's been over 25 years since he last in a Mario game so it would be a great throwback.

This has to be my all time favorite feature on this site, the commentary is hilarious and ya'll make these games looks downright intense.

How nostalgic, brings back so many memories and yet this game is so weird.

This makes me think of the FAP where everyone realized that the Super Mario Bros. All-Stars release of the NES Mario games were junk and controlled like crap. But seeing the original makes me remember the one time I got to play it at my cousin's house. I recall not getting very far.

The best part of this entire video was Ryan throwing the Snifit and then running straight into it. Funny stuff! I actually tried playing this game for the first time a few months ago, but I just could not work it the hell out. So...thanks for showing me how to actually do it I guess, haha.

This was a great game; I played it a bunch as a kid. I didn't even question the fact that it was so different from SMB 1 & 3 when I first played it. Also, I never knew there was a way to warp to 4-1. I played like a chump and advanced the regular way.
