"That's the general expectation by consumers. They purchase physical form; they want to use it everywhere, right? So that's my expectation," he said. We followed up with Yoshida, and he confirmed it again: "That's my expectation, that used PS4 games will work." Hmm... Funny how hindsight can make a statement have a whole different meaning. Back then, reading this sounded reassuring almost... But now, knowing what we know about the Xbone, suddenly this sounds vague and worryingly ambiguous. Here's hoping it's just my nerves though.

I'm not convinced on the new DriveClub game, i honestly believe there are enough driving games out there what are going to do the exact same thing, and it only interests people who will play for long periods of time to get the full enjoyment out of it, and seriously MotorStorm would of been a whole lot better game to put out for launch, a great arcade racer which is unique and hasn't been done before. i don't think DriveClub will do anything

I do think Sony have allowed Microsoft the upper hand here by showing their hand a little too quickly... Cant wait to find out what the new Xbox has in store for us!

    Hindsight makes this comment hilarious.

I'm not an early adopter. I prefer for the bugs (and there will be bugs) to be ironed out, and for the price to settle to something reasonable. That usually means at least 2-3 years after launch (and in the case of the PS3, 5 years). Since that is typically around the time that online support for the previous generation ends, I'll enjoy the games I've already bought for the PS3 and PSN. Even though I understand why it won't have backward compatibility, it still pisses me off. Makes me angry enough to shoot a friend in the face...

I think the PS4's UI's more like of Steam's Big Picture.

what does this do that the PS3 can't do? I can understand why Wii U was launched because the Wii was underpowered and the tablet controller creates a new dimension, but PS3 & 360 are already powerful enough so these launches don't seem required. It looks like we are expected to pay £400 for a new console that will play COD5 that looks a bit better than COD4.

what does this do that the PS3 can't do? Plenty. Instant load times, background downloads of both games AND updates, Potentially being able to stream every game that has touched a Sony console, instantly upload videos to the web, view or let others view or even help in your game. Not to mention that better specs means not jsut better visuals but better frame-rate and less bugs and potential shitfests like the Bayonetta or Skyrim ports. Is that not enough for you? (And seriously, if you think the PS3 and 360 are "powerful enough" you clearly have your head stuck in the ground when it comes to PC gaming, and even now, more and more new games are struggling to run smoothly on account to the shitty RAM memory both current systems have. So no, they are NOT powerful enough, at least, not for the future to come)

I have a PC rig and all three current gen consoles. Honestly, the graphics are sharper but thats about it. Its pretty much the same experience. Maybe that wasnt true 20 years ago, but consoles have grown in leaps and bounds since then and they only continue to develope faster as more money is put into them.
