New Need for Speed title spotted in EA report

In a new slideshow released today EA (possibly accidentally) revealed a new Need For Speed game will be arriving in the third quest of 2012. While we're really not too sure what to expect here since the extent of the available information stops at "Need for Speed Q3 2012," this lines up nicely with rumors of Need for Speed Most Wanted 2.

Kotaku spotted the results earlier today in an earnings report which is, of course, filled with dozens of ways for EA to make themselves sound like the most profitable corporation in the history of industry. However, the Need for Speed logo is touted several times, and it shows up yet again in a section showing their fiscal year 13 (2012-13) releases right next to Crisis 3 and SimCity.

However, even on the logo there's no subtitle or branding of any kind, so that information may still be pending inside EA. Either that or they're not ready to declare whether it's Need for Speed Most Wanted 2.

We're certainly hoping that it's Most Wanted 2, as we gave it a 9/10 in our 2006 review. Given that EA has often had Need for Speed titles at E3 in the past, we're guessing we'll hear more about this title in about a month.

Like an idiot I keep hoping the next NFS game will be actually good and not a disappointment, Hot Pursuit obliged but it wasn't a true NFS game. Still hoping naively that this next game is actually good.

Third quest 2012? But I still haven't found the fifth seal to complete the first quest and I'm no where near level enough for the second quest mid boss! >Most Wanted was my favorite NFS >Wasn't Carbon technically a Most Wanted sequel because it continued the "story"?

This game is the reason I want a BMW M3. Can't wait for this one.

I hope this is Most Wanted 2, as MW is my favorite NFS game. I don't really care if it's developed by Criterion or EA, since I feel like either one could do a fine job as long as they take a good, long look at the first game and remember why people like it so much. Although if this is any NFS game other than MW2, I don't think I'll even bother trying it.

My god, I've played the shit out of Most Wanted (and Carbon too) on my PS2. If this is Most Wanted 2, then I'll have a heart attack out of joy. Just make sure you guys get the soundtrack right. MW's soundtrack is one of the best in the series in my opinion.

Most Wanted 2 NEEDS to happen. In terms of quality, the series has been all over the place. Most Wanted was easily the highest point, at least for this generation. And stuff like Undercover and The Run certainly didn't help the series. Plus, rumor has it that Criterion (Hot Pursuit) is doing Most Wanted 2. I'm indifferent on that.
