Modern Warfare 3 footage debuts in new trailer

If there's one thing May has brought us, it's a conclusive end to the statute of limitations for using War On Terror-inspired imagery to sell games. Doubters need look no further than the newly-debuted trailer for Modern Warfare 3, which drops viewers into a war torn New York before embarking on a whirlwind tour of the game's worldwide urban locales.

The trailer – the public's first look at the game – shows an emphasis on inner-city combat, showing that chunks of major cities such as New York and Paris have been painstakingly modeled within the game, and every bit as painstakingly had the shit smashed out of them for artistic effect. It must've been somewhat restrictive only being allowed to use places with an “E” in their name for that nifty “Trail3r Montag3” effect, but you know, is anyone really clamoring to see pitched gun battles in Austin or Stockholm? 3xactly.

Above: America, f*ck yeah?

What do you think of this footage? Are you pumped for Modern Warfare 3, or have you moved on from the series?

i'll most likely buy it. i skipped black ops, but the fact you get to play in england is a definite hook for me :P gosh i'm an awful patriot...

While the trailer looks pretty, is action-packed, and has monumental scenery, this is just another MW trailer, and probably game. *bang bang bang....explosion....boat chase....gunner shot....bang bang bang...bigger explosion* Not sure if I will even pick this up with games like Battlefield and GOW coming out, but we'll see.

I will only consider buying the game if it has dedicated servers. @robertchen I don't trust that link that is provided, I am keeping my personal info away from it and I advise everyone else to beware of that. I feel that it would be way to early for a developer to release a demo towards the summer for a game that's targeted for the holidays.

THE MODERN WARFARE 3 DEMO LEAKED! I've been playing it for the past 5 hours, and I must say it's pretty amazing. The site that I got the demo from is here.. get it while the link's still up!

I pre-ordered to get the poster, but I'm not all that excited for this. I'm more excited for Battlefield 3 which is actually showing improvements and not recycled set pieces.

I don't think I saw enough of Germany being destroyed
  • db1331 - May 24, 2011 12:07 p.m.

Fuck NY. I'm so tired of having to save that shit hole in every single fucking game.
  • robotmand - May 24, 2011 12:05 p.m.

    Call of Duty: Inception Warfare?
  • Scammeleon - May 24, 2011 11:36 a.m.

The Duke Nukem trailer at the start confused me for a second...
  • JachAnen - May 24, 2011 11:07 a.m.

Hope they will start making the campaign like they used to så you can't complete the game in 3-4 hours like the other newer CoD.

I'm kinda tired of a series that only continues because of set piece explosions. I liked MW did not enjoy MW2 and didn't bother buying Black OPS but I beat it and played multiplayer and still wasn't impressed. I might get this when MW9 comes out so the price is like two bucks.
  • Jbo87 - May 24, 2011 10:49 a.m.

The vague amount of interest I have in this game stemmed from the fact that England is going to be one of the war zones. Although as someone has already said it will probably be a poxy hour or so tacked on to further the impenetrable plot.
  • CombatCat120 - May 24, 2011 10:49 a.m.

If it wasn't for the MW3 logo at the end, I could swear it looked like just another trailer for MW2
  • RicePuddingUK - May 24, 2011 10:38 a.m.

Germany and France don't have an army? They need the Americans to fight? I was looking forward to being the French or German army, hopefully you'll fight alongside them.

Scripted Single Player Footage. Looks Amazing. Looks like it'll be more or less like a movie (and probably about as long). Zero MP gameplay (which is being done by another developer anyways). Like any other MW game, I'll rent/borrow it just to see play through it so when I trash talk it online I'm actually speaking from experience and not made-up fanboy rage.
  • KamikazeNorris - May 24, 2011 8:02 a.m.

Looks pretty good... I'll be more excited when I hear what they've done too multiplayer.
  • chriswilliamsuk - May 24, 2011 7:12 a.m.

Looks ok, nothing special. i predict an 8 then an uproar of trolls saying its better than that even though people have never played it. it must be a 10 is COD (sarcasm)
  • OtterPopAfterbirth - May 24, 2011 6:57 a.m.

was definitely ready to hate this game, but the trailer got me kind of pumped. hopefully it will be better than the disaster that was the Black ops. all i really expect from MW3 is epic first person set pieces (ala mw1 and 2 and not black ops), and addictive if rehashed multilayer. i know the plot is going to be ridiculous.
