Microsoft E3 press conference wrap-up

Microsoft had quite a few surprises up their sleeves at their E3 press conference this year. We got to see gameplay for the upcoming Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and Tomb Raider titles. Even more surprising was when they unveiled the next in the Splinter Cell series "Blacklist," and the new Smartglass interface features. Check out the video below to hear what our own Gary Steinman and Sterling McGarvey though of Microsoft's press conference and let us know you're opinion in the comments.

    Another bad e3 for Microsoft.

It was just so... pedestrian. I really, really wanted this to be a great conference for Microsoft, especially after last year's. Ah well. Roll on Sony and Nintendo.

Watching this roundup made me realize how much I miss the old GR. I have no idea who these people are, and don't much care for their awkward chemistry together. I miss when GR was run by the old TalkRadar gang :(

    Agreed. Sad.

As my first "real" viewing of a Microsoft E3, I say, "meh." I'm psyched for Halo 4, albeit they showed nothing but hardcore teases, then just moved on as if nothing happened. Kinect is getting better, but I still don't feel any need to buy one. SmartGlass has me interested, but only to see how it affects the popularity of Wii U as well as tablets. All in all, meh. It's not like anyone expected much more. I, too, am glad that there was no talk of 720 just yet.

Somehow it was even worse to watch then last year's Kinect-a-thon. There was good footage, but the only exclusive worth mentioning came from (the grand looking) Halo 4. Gears was just a trailer, and the other IPs they built up so much are just Arcade games. SmartGlass is a neat idea, and an intelligent way to combat the WiiU, but it shouldn't have taken so long to explain the app. And ending the confrence with CoD just felt. . . wrong. It was a slap in the face.

I found Microsofts E3 this year pretty horrid, they barely talked about games at all! Most of their talk was about watching sports and exercising. Sure there's nothing wrong with either of those things but that's not why I watch E3 of all things...

Jesus fucking Christ that trailer for Splinter Cell was awful. A Nathan Drake looking Sam Fisher without Michael Ironside voicing it and even faster game play than Conviction?? I'm not looking forward to a sexed up Grimm with larger bust size and visible thong.

Dude, wtf are you talking about with the visible thong? I can see where you're coming from about the faster gameplay, but, A Nathan Drake looking Sam Fisher? Visible thong? What? C'moon now dude, now you're just making shit up...

I'm sorry, did you guys watch the same Splinter Cell demo we did? "Fast, fluid gameplay" is NOT a good thing for a stealth title, but what really confused me was you talking about an "urban environment". Eh?
