"Losing" and "Game" should not be together D: But yea, pretty much, there are o many games with "Game of the Year" on it, you can't tell which is true or not.

I think the only game of the year edition I've ever bought was Oblivion. That wasnt a lie was it? Silent Hill 2, Devil May Cry, Ico, GTA3, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final fantasy x all came out in the same year? Bloody hell, what an amazing year for games! About 4 or 5 of my fave games ever came out that year!

Just drop the GOTY entirely. You simply can't compare an RTS with a FPS with a puzzle game. Each game should be a "GOTY for its own category", so to speak. Honestly, it's as stupidly meaningless as best movie winners on the Oscars; most don't actually garner unanimous support and they make you overlook other releases that might interest you more.

FIRST I don't think it makes any difference to the consumer whether a game is GOTY or not,it wouldn't make me switch from buying a non GOTY, for me, GOTY is more of a seal of quality for a game, but even then, I read reviews, so it makes no real impact
