Pretty much agreed with everything in this article. Internet rage is not at all exclusive to gaming, but we're certainly guilty of it, and I myself acknowledge I've made several angry comments in this site and other places in the past. But I wanna think I've been doing it less and less because honestly, raging might feel justified/fun/funny/liberating at the time, but it seldom ever accomplished anything positive either with others or with myself. Of course, critiquing and complaining is always fine, but we could always do with less shouting and name calling. This being said... I sadly don't expect this kind of behavior will go away or be reduced any time soon, if ever. Since less angry shouting and personal attacks or threats require self control and a "think before you speak" attitude... And those things require a level of brain power that the masses seem to simply lack in pretty much any place or time period.

Agreed. It's not just in games but you see it in sports too. Anyone who watched the World Cup (or football in general) will tell you sportsmanship is going down the toilet, leading me to believe it's a societal problem and not one restricted to gaming. That, and a lot of gamers just need to exercise more.

I am a huge gamer I have played a lot of violent videos games such as: Manhunt 1 & 2, postal 1 & 2 and anything that can be considered violent. I went through a stage of rage during my CS:S days but I came to realise is that it gets me no where and I felt stressed and angry all the time. I don't what happened/changed in me but I am no longer that aggressive gamer and gaming is all the sweeter for it. If you are a rage gamer just let it go you are not doing anything to change the world you are making gaming uncool by showing the world that games induce rage and unpleasantness which makes us all look bad.

Who are these people "I have a Photoshoot coming up Dammit!" Why the hell would a grown man play a Kim Kardashian ga-....... Ahem. Stopped myself. Good points though Dave. Very good article actually, and it sort of ties in (tentatively) with another from the another day about how gaming is portrayed in other forms of media - angry gamers being a recurring theme. I for one am sick of all the anger, aggression and abuse (alliteration FTW!) that plagues the internet all the time, ALWAYS. So... Week of hate next week? ; )

I agree they are good points, I think people need to realise what their parents have been saying "it's only a game" I used to hear that all the time lol But I guess they were right in the end.
