awesome article, while we are at it though, can we also address hate mails after a game? they are just annoying. if you won, great. if you lost, NO ONE CARES. stop complaining and stop trying to be an online bully, to someone who might be like 10 years older than you ( or in the really sad cases, someone who is 10 years younger)

Agreed, hate mail is ridiculous. You could have ONE bad game in twenty and it would be the one where there's a total asshole in the lobby!

David Houghton sir you are absolutely correct any thread or forum is seemingly always hijacked and turned into a pissing contest or an obnoxious hatred for a brand or game. And that is why the gamer community is rather self defeating and makes being a part of it not a happy prospect ever.

It's not just fanboyism - it's the behaviour of anonymous idiots when playing online, it's the relentless and pointless spamming of titles like Modern Warfare 3 and Portal 2 on Metacritic, it's the constant elitist talk of being part of the "hardcore" crowd whilst forgetting everyone starts somewhere. But hey, it's not like it's meant to be any fun, is it?

"it's the constant elitist talk of being part of the "hardcore" crowd whilst forgetting everyone starts somewhere." Most of those self-proclaimed "hardcore" elitists often badmouth a mainstream game while playing another equally mainstream game. It's like, "Chuh, GTA/Fifa/CoD is shit. Saints Row/PES/BF is far better." I bet very few of them have ever played really unknown games that bombed on retail such as the weird Japanese stuff that slips through. I'm just bitter nobody talks about Tombi anymore :(
