To unlock the EX and Gold you must play Survival. Each time you go up 20 levels, you will fight an EX character then around level 500 you will get to fight the Gold characters. To unlock them, you must first defeat them. The EX is not that hard to beat, they just have unlimited tension so they can keep doing their special. The gold characters are a different story. Make sure you're ready because they have unlimited tension, they go fast, and they attacks are really strong.
