Get an early look at every new Mario Kart 7 track

Mario Kart 7 is due out in less than two weeks, giving 3DS owners one more game to use when justifying their purchase. Considering how important Mario Kart DS was in assuring the success of the original dual-screened handheld, expectations are pretty high for the new iteration of the Kart franchise, with fans hoping it will be the game the system needs to become the success Nintendo expected it to be. In preparation for the release we've put together a video showing off all 16 of the game's new courses, demonstrating a variety of Mario Kart 7's locations, mechanics, and obstacles.

Check them out, and let us know which levels you're the most excited for (we have a feeling it's going to be Rainbow Road, though Piranha Plant Slide's retro themes might win some of you over in the long run).

Mushroom Cup and Flower Cup

Above: The Mushroom Cup is Toad Circuit, Daisy Hills, Cheep Cheep Lagoon, and Shy Guy Bazaar. The Flower Cup is Wuhu Loop, Mario Circuit, Music Park, and Rock Rock Mountain

Star Cup and Special Cup

Above: The Star Cup is Piranha Plant Slide, Wario Shipyard, Neo Bowser City, and Maka Wuhu. The Special Cup is DK Jungle, Rosalina's Ice World, Bowser's Castle, and Rainbow Road

some genuinely great track designs here looks fantastic.

Wow these are the most unimpressive levels ever!

I actually think it looks pretty good, but I don't have a 3DS so it's as much as I'll see for a while. I'm sure the tracks will show their true colours when racing against others, as opposed to the time trial solos in the vids.

This looks so awesome but I still have to wait for either animal crossing or paper mario. Somethin Ill play long time.

I must say that the Rainbow Road in this one looks amazing. Some tracks also look pretty damncreative. But I think I'll prefer MNR Road Trip. Mario Kart, give me a call when you have robust vehicle customization and a level editor, then we can talk.

Hollander: What are you still doing at work? You need to get up early for family functions. Love, Mrs. Coops Scoops

I don't know what happened after Mario Kart DS, but that was definitely the series high point. The Wii game was just bad. Something about the track design has really changed for the worse and the usually great music is ear-bleedingly bad now.

And by that I mean it looks like this game is from the same team.

i feel the same as kit07... its very meh and im not excited. i think its the music. rainbow road is always amazing and this one sounded so boring. also the constant in and out of water and air is a little annoying to me.
  • badgraphix1 - November 28, 2011 5:53 p.m.

Yeah, all the music for this game sounds lackluster. And that's the most boring Rainbow Road theme yet.
  • badgraphix1 - November 28, 2011 5:56 p.m.

    The track looks amazing though.
  • kit07 - November 23, 2011 6:58 p.m.

as a 3DS owner i want to be really excited for this. but this just seems like a whole lot of meh to me. a few of the tracks in the star and special cups seemed alright, i guess. maybe ill just wait when this comes down in price, for now ill just stick with SM3DL
