Can't Wait to be King level was brutal, i spent days trying to get past, wonder if i could do that now. i agree with people saying children can tolerate more bullshit.

The most recent one for me was Ducktales Remastered HD. I was playing through on extreme difficulty, got all the way to the end and had 2 lives left. The lava began to rise and I'm climbing from chain to chain and for some reason, Scrooge didn't grab the next chain.. Ok, Ok, I still have one life left(heart's pounding). Climbing up on the chains and the SAME exact thing happened again.. No lives left, need to start all over from the beginning. I'm sad to admit it but yes, I threw my controller and then shut-off the PS3. I don't think I'll be getting that trophy anytime soon..

In recent memory: The free-falling segement at the start of chapter 8 of Killzone: Shadow Fall was to me the most anger-inducing 40 minutes I have spent with a game in years. It caused so much outcry from players they actually patched the game to make the segement easier.

mmm Where is Resident Evil 6? Basically the whole game could be here!

I thought for certain that Earthworm Jim's infamous "Down the Tubes" level would make it onto this list. That Goddamn fragile glass bathysphere...

Are you implying by that last picture from Batman that Croc's level in Asylum was frustrating? I think it was fun. I would add that flood level from Halo 3.

Any desert section in any JRPG. They are so damn bland looking, not to mention they always have the same enemies across every game. But to top it off, there is always some kind of environmental hazard, whether its giant sand worms, tornado lizards or fucking quick sand. Also, any dungeon from Star Ocean: the last hope, maybe it's just me, but holy shit they seemed to never end.

    Blue Dragon was the worst.

I always considered the water temple in majora's mask much more annoying and difficult than orcarina of time. Hmm manipulate water levels or currents?

Champions Road in Mario 3D World was one of the hardest levels I have played in any game in years. I commend all of those who managed to do it 5 times to get all of those stamps. Funny though, I don't remember the Water Temple or Meat Circus being so bad, but that may just be because it has been so long since I originally played them.

still never got past the volcano level in far cry... gave it a shot 2 years ago... still failed so i gave up and resulted to the shameful manner of youtubing the end of the game

I think the Stampede level in Lion King is worse; I never made it past that level. The Library is pretty bad. I played through half of that in co-op and it was an absolute mess. I tried doing it solo but that was foolish of me to try.

The flood levels from any Halo are definitely very bad. I actually liked Mile High Club, and took it as a fun challenge to complete. The 3DS version of the Water Temple makes it much easier to navigate and know what you're doing.

There's a mine cart level in world 4 of Donkey Kong Country Returns (wii) that is stupid hard. Couldn't do it, had to use the guide. Actually, from world 4 on that game is as hard a game ever made. So good though!

I had to go through the water temple as a 6-7 year old with ADD. Yeah, let that sink on. The water temple is horrendously confusing for adults with mental clarity, and I had to do it as a young child without the ability to have organized thoughts. Inexplicably I was able to do it time after time but it took blood, sweat and tears.

I remember doing so many unbelievably frustrating things as a child, and as an adult I wonder how I even managed. I think we just have a higher tolerance for bullshit as children.

Very true, blighttown is a doozy. I remember playing Lion King on my brother's genesis, never got far. I remember being pretty frustrated with the entirety of mega man x 6, I still beat it and then again on the x collection, but I remember just being enraged by the levels, all of them were just jerkasses

Was there some underlined hatred for Half-Life's Xen in this feature? If there is, shame on you. Xen was awesome. Cunningly brutal, and sometimes brutally cunning, but awesome nonetheless.

The one level that nearly made me lose my mind was the escort level in the sewers from Jak II. That one took me like two or three weeks of off and on playing to complete, and that was only because one metalhead jumped weird near the end.
