Forza 4 E3 trailer featuring Kanye West is all in-game footage

Here's the E3 trailer for Turn 10's upcoming Forza Motorsport 4 featuring Kanye West. If you're a car fan – and if you're not, you've probably skipped this post already – you're probably well accustomed to watching clips full of gorgeous, fine-tuned vehicles you wouldn't be able to afford unless you sold your entire family to Somali pirates. Maybe that's why you play racing games – for the knowledge that, when a company puts out a clip full of beguiling automobile footage, you'll soon be able to own exotic and overpriced vehicles vicariously through videogames. If that’s the case, then lucky you: here's a solid 90 seconds of just such footage.

Besides giving you a better look than you could possibly need around the innards of Forza 4's hero vehicle – it's lucky Turn 10 makes racing games, or you might have just spent half that clip perusing a Space Marine's lower intestine – the trailer offers a look at the title's always-welcome genuinely useful Kinect integration, and glimpses of the “entirely new car experience” of driving around racetracks, pastoral hills and snowy mountains. Are you excited for Forza 4's October 11 release?

That song's been popular in trailers lately. Saints Row the Third comes to mind. Nevertheless, I'm really excited about Fourza.

There is suppose to be a Fanatec racing wheel pack? Which sucks, because I just bought one for a lot of money. Still, I guess it is worth it. To many good games coming out after August. Shame I'm going on holiday right in the middle of the game releases :(

Seems to be rather more than 8 cars on track in some of the racing scenes which is the big upgrade I am excited about. But as many above have said, I remain unconvinced that visuals of that quality can be pumped out when the demands of AI etc are also required, i.e during gameplay. Still the new lighting engine certainly is working its magic in the photo mode type stuff. One of the few games I am really looking forward to this year.

awesome, a trailer that reminds me of another trailer... I so want Saints Row 3 now. Thanks for reminding me that, Forza.

@HereComesTheHypeTrainCHOOCHOO, Yeah those dirty GamesRadar folks, showing us this manufactured piece of garbage. I mean, they did use the term in game footage, not game play the title of the article. But we all know they are just stooges for the game companies. I mean, the company gives them a video and tell them that it is in game footage, which they tell us so we can make up our own minds and reach our own conclusions about. What are they thinking, don't they know they have an obligation to be a complete downer d-bag like you and tell us that our excitement and joy of watching an awesome game video is really just ignorant because the video we are watching may not be what the final product is exactly like. I am telling you, if I play this game and it does not play in 1 second quick shots with fades and Kanye West playing over it the whole time, I will personally hold GamesRadar accountable for misleading me so bad. Ok, I guess I have to admit that technically speaking, you know, to be completely open and honest, we don't know if this is gameplay footage or not. I suppose it could be, maybe. But just because I don't have the facts doesn't mean we can't make wild assumptions about this website and blame them for doing THE EXACT SAME THING WE AM DOING. THEY ARE JUST P.R. DOUBLESPEAK BLAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (I am serous now because I am typing in all caps, see how that works)

That is easily NOT cutscene quality footage and is pretty much actual game engine rendering. But it more than likely is PC developer kit renderings with anti-aliasing through the roof. PR companies know better than to use the term in-game and give a cutscene and expect to not get murdered by the community since Killzone 2.

Yep, 'in game' and 'gameplay' footage are two completely different things... Lets see some gameplay running them we can go 'ooooo' and 'aaaaaaa' Still can't wait for F4 though, GT5 was quite a let down really.

So, will this game have better physics? Will it still be possible to take a 90 degree turn at 200MPH without losing speed? Are they removing the bullshit rewind?
  • lilyeister - July 13, 2011 6:39 p.m.

I saw the top gear tire wall. That alone made it worth watching

Almost ALL videos put out by companies are "in-game" footage so don't get that confused with "gameplay footage". Final Fantasy 13 has some of the most gorgeous cutscenes ever seen but there is a clear difference between those cutscenes and how the game looks while playing. All of it is "in-game" so I am truly puzzled why GamesRadar is falling for the old tried and true PR speak that is designed to confuse people into equating "in-game footage" with "gameplay footage". Very amateurish mistake. Video looks good but it doesn't in anyway represent what they finished product will look like while playing. But I suppose companies wouldn't keep using this bait and switch tactic if it consistently didn't fool the unwashed masses. And certain naive, impressionable journos.

At last, something to wash away the bitter tastes that was GT5
  • SVC5 - July 13, 2011 6:04 p.m.

Can't wait, loved Forza 3. Defiantly better than GT5.
  • HumorTumor - July 13, 2011 5:59 p.m.

that is in game?! Holy christ on a pogo stick. Too bad I'm not much of a racer fan or I would be gushing over this.
