First Minecraft convention heading to Las Vegas this November

If you'd told players ten years ago that a game not even out of beta-testing could command a following substantial enough to warrant a full-sized convention in Las Vegas, they'd have laughed as hard as you did at Bill Gates' new console. But here we are in 2011, and Minecraft – whose first build released in 2009 and which has been in paid Beta since late last year – is almost ready to launch for reals. And this is a big deal for enough people that they're all getting together in Vegas to be there when it happens.

Final build? So that's it for Minecraft? What'll Persson do when the convention is over with? “We’ll just go back home and keep working on Minecraft.” In the case of a game like Minecraft, “finished” really kind of just means “getting started.” Will you be booking a ticket for Minecon?
