Fallout: New Vegas' Old World Blues DLC looks painful in new screenshots

Where do skull crushing hammers, mug-collecting robots and angry dudes with kick-ass machine guns fit in to the world of Fallout? Damned if we know; but according to these newly released screens, they're just some of weapons, allies and enemies you'll come across in Old World Blues, Bethesda's forthcoming expansion for Fallout: New Vegas.

Above: Muggy, a plucky securitron with a penchant for coffee cups

Old World Blues moves the action into the Big Empty, where players will explore pre-War research centers for secrets to their past, and ancient technology which could either blow old enemies to smithereens, or be a vital tool in a much greater conflict. The expansion will raise the level cap by 5, add a new trait, allow players to keep their equipment, and at one point give them a chance to tinker with their appearance. Similar to previous add-ons, companions won't be invited to traverse the new locations. Too bad, really, but here's hoping Muggy is as good with a gun as he is at making coffee (or so we assume).

Old World Blues will be out for XBLA, PC and PSN on July 19th for 800 Microsoft Points and US$9.99, respectively.

The new patch that came out for this DLC has fixed my issues and I can actually play New Vegas again! Just for that I might actually buy this DLC.

Man, and I was about to buy Honest Hearts for 2.99 last night. But I stopped myself! This DLC looks interesting. Wait, isn't this the game that's always crashing and bugging?
  • Spacegrass - July 6, 2011 12:46 a.m.

@LIAMthescot I'm pretty sure there's a mod that gives you one.

@Spacegrass I would kill someone (in the game of course lol) for an automatic fatman.

I thought the grenade machinegun from New Vegas was ridiculous, but that new gun is even more absurd. At this rate, Lonesome Road will have a gun the size of a mountain, and the DLC after that will have a gun the size of the world.

I'd really, REALLY love to play some of the New Vegas DLCs. but, of course, Bethesda don't seem to want to do ANYTHING to fix the bloody ED-E glitch, meaning the DLCs won't work for me at all. Perfect.

I don't envy whoever's on the business end of that minigun. Time to stockpile absurd amounts of ammunition!
  • Gameguy94 - July 5, 2011 10:20 p.m.

Yeah....I traded this game in. It got boring after awhile. However I'm digging that huge minigun.
  • BackwaterRifle - July 5, 2011 9:21 p.m.

WOOT! Back to the good old times of scaving pre war facilities.
  • Yarnboy - July 5, 2011 9 p.m.

As long as muggy won't be as buggy as the real game. Did you SEE what I DID there? But seriously, the big empty seems nice enough. Especially curious to see how they will improve from the honest hearts DLC
