I see human revolution in that example, where is the arm are you still giving it away? And cool bowling on the redesign, and hope you are right about stars stopping all the comment rage.

It all seems alright. I do personally dislike the 5 star system. With 1 star being the worst game possible, that means that there are exactly 9 levels of gradation. To me, that doesn't feel like enough; especially since a perfect 5/5 should be extremely rare. But it's all personal preference I suppose.

2 Years ago (or whenever the site went through it's last redesign), this kind of article would generate ~50 replys within 20 minutes. Something that worked then doesn't work well anymore. As for the new design: Easy on the eyes, Me like. Could still be wider.
  • Lurkero - June 25, 2012 1:44 p.m.

No! You're doing it wrong! A 5 star scale with half stars is STILL a 10 point rating system. That doesn't actually change things. 1 - don't buy this game 2 - below average 3 - mediocre 4 - good 5 - great See how easy a 5 point scale can convey a reviewers feelings? I don't understand why review sites keep avoiding 5 point scales. Besides that I appreciate the layout change. Each game should have always had its own page. It just seems easier from an organizational standpoint. Less like a blog and press release site and more like a full website.

I would appreciate an edit button on comments (so many sites are missing that these days) Also, for the gray and orange buttons at the top of the videogame page I would suggest either using a darker gray or darker orange. Right now neither color stands out as much as my eyes would prefer.

Good new layout. GR leveled up, it seems.
  • Child Of Death - June 25, 2012 1:34 p.m.

    This layout is smexy!

I also miss FAPs. Where else can I go to mock obscure WiiWare releases?
  • Cyberninja - June 25, 2012 1:15 p.m.

I can live it, I have been through alot of changes to this website since I first came here years ago.
  • Tronto13 - June 25, 2012 1:01 p.m.

love the new look, only thing im not sold on it moving to a 5-star rating system. Though im sure ill come round to it, especially if you are including half stars :)
  • GarySteinman - June 25, 2012 1:23 p.m.

    Yep, we've got half-stars.
  • XanderGC - June 25, 2012 12:37 p.m.

Am I the only one who finds the orange font on grey with a white drop shadow on the text hard on the eyes?
  • robertpopovic - June 25, 2012 12:34 p.m.

Will have to get used to it, but looking nicely. I'm not too fond about seeing the grade, pro's and cons right upfront (I sometimes like to build it all up with the story), though I do see how it accomodates those that want to know a bit about a game in a nutshell. With games I don't really care for I tend to just go for the endbit anyway :P Will have to try out the search function later because that was always a horrid beast to use if you wanted to find a specific item.

As much as Henry is one of my favourites, with the loss of the big 3 (Antista, Reparaz and Elston) the feel-good vibes that have gone are not going to be replaced by a new format. Get some writers with a personality!
  • bobby-portlock - June 25, 2012 12:26 p.m.

    could not agree more
  • loonyman978 - June 25, 2012 1:13 p.m.

    I second this guy ^^
  • doolahee - June 25, 2012 2:20 p.m.

Absolutely! The format of the site is minor. The quality of the writing is what matters and it has suffered SERIOUSLY! I don't visit the site as often as I used to and have considered just packing it in all together and that makes me sad because I have been a huge fan for years.
  • Net_Bastard - June 26, 2012 12:52 p.m.

Agreed. I've been on this site since I was 11 years old. I welcomed every change. But please, get some funnier writers. This site ain't what it used to be, and it'll probably collapse under its own weight soon if nothing gets done about it. I find myself going to RockPaperShotgun more often than GR. It's like a PC-centric old-school GR as far as the writing style goes.
  • loonyman978 - June 25, 2012 12:16 p.m.

From the example it looks like the star scale is going to be out of 10 as well though so it doesnt make a difference. Can you please bring back super reviews? They used to be a really good read and a much better take on a standard boring review...When does the update go live?
  • BladedFalcon - June 25, 2012 12:16 p.m.

I like the new layout so far, and while i haven't fully tested it, it DOES seem to load faster, so that's great ^^ Also, the search engine seems to not suck anymore, which is also great. Liking it so far, but like Metroid Prime Rib said, an edit button for comments would be greatly, deeply appreciated.
