Beyond Good & Evil HD: The first eight minutes

Beyond Good & Evil HD, the high-definition remake of the 2003 action adventure, is coming to Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network on March 2. Featuring a re-mastered soundtrack, achievements/trophies, and a shiny, visual makeover, the revised game will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

What we’re really interested in is more news on the state of Beyond Good & Evil 2. But with no firm release date set for the sequel that was first revealed in 2008, it looks like we’ll need to grab the upcoming HD remake of the original for more time with Jade and Pey’j. In the meantime, check out this new video that recently surfaced, which shows off the first eight minutes of Beyond Good & Evil HD.

I have a lot of great memories with this game. Super excited to play it in HD with a remastered soundtrack!

I have the original, so I won't be playing this, but lemme say that $10 is a steal for the HD version of this game. Besides, you'd normally blow that kind of money on avatar constumes and crappy map packs anyway.

I have a copy of the game, but I'll still buy it next week. Damn you, not 100% backwards compatibility! And get to work on the sequel already, Ubisoft! You've been a total tease on this!
  • adrenaguy - February 22, 2011 2:53 p.m.

BUT IT LOOKS NO DIFFEREEEEEEEEEEENT. seriously. It looks nearly exactly the same as the copy that i am playing this very second. I'm not even kidding, there's no point. I think I'll stick with the original for now. I mean, really, update the engine to support more polygons and higher texture reolution, then I'll be happy. because that's what a HD remake should look like. SHINY.

Never really understood doing a remake of a game that's not that old and frankly still looks fairly good. Honestly I can barely tell the difference between the new HD version and the original. The effort would be better spent on remaking an older game where the graphical upgrade would be far more pronounced. With that said if putting out a HD remake helps expose this awesome game that sadly practically NOBODY bought the first time around to a whole new audience of people and helps spurn more of an interest in the sequel (not to mention helps that sequel sell better if and when it comes out) then so much the better.

    $10? Can't beat that!
  • CH3BURASHKA - February 22, 2011 1:38 a.m.

I didn't know that they had remastered the soundtrack for this. Yet another reason to buy it, as if you didn't have enough already. However, I wish that this "HD remake" craze people have experiencing went beyond simply up-resing the game. A bit of polish to the animations would do wonders to the games. I'm willing to bet 50 bucks that 100%-ing the game will unlock a teaser trailer for BG&E2. Ubisoft would have to be retarded to squander such an opportunity. This is the most people have thought of or heard of Beyond Good and Evil since it came out, so this is a great chance for them to capitalize on all this hype and promote the sequel.

Defintley going to pick this up sapecially since its supposed to be so good.
  • hanktherapper - February 22, 2011 1:13 a.m.

I'm excited for this game. It's been so long since I've played it I don't remember anything about it other than how much fun I had. It will be like playing it for the first time.
  • Nemesis2k9 - February 22, 2011 12:53 a.m.

@majorianmask You sure about that? I am gonna re-install very soon almost sure it works on my c2d.
  • Yorimoto - February 22, 2011 12:47 a.m.

@ Modroneman It's already on sale. Ten bucks is a frackin steal for this much content of this quality.
  • majorianmask - February 22, 2011 12:30 a.m.

why can't they finally release a patch for it on the PC so it will work on newer machines, I got it on steam and its unplayable on my dual core.
  • Nemesis2k9 - February 22, 2011 12:29 a.m.

Think I am gonna re-install this. Enjoyed it back then. Wonder if it supports wide screen?
  • veryweirdguy - February 21, 2011 11:50 p.m.

  • BMW89 - February 21, 2011 9:54 p.m.

I will buy it a dozen freaking times if it makes the sequel come out any faster (and I already own the game once on PC).

  • Aromasin - February 21, 2011 8:06 p.m.

I feel special having played this game when it came out :D . Shame the sales were low but I wouldn't be surprised if it now got more sales than when it came out! And Pey'j is and will always be my favourite video game character....
  • l_eden_l - February 21, 2011 7:43 p.m.

D'oh. I finally managed to grab a copy of the PS2 version last month... xD Oh well. Maybe I can torture others into getting it.
