Aperture Science getting ready for Portal 2

Yesterday, Valve announced that Portal will be available for the Mac and PC for FREE until May 24th. The massive giveaway of what many have called the best game of all time coincided with the launch of Valve’s Steam client for Macs. Today, a new recruitment video from Aperture Science celebrates the release and teases the upcoming debut of Portal 2. Check it out.

This whole "clinical/science style" is awesome. Portal is awesome. I just hope this time cake will be served.

I wonder if Portal 2 will still bring new gameplay elements and all, or will it just be an average sequel, refining little bits of the gameplay and bringing marginally updated graphics. You know when a sequel is great when you just can't go back to the first game, Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 are good examples of that. But I have my doubts about Portal 2, as the first game set the bar pretty high for a puzzle game.

I thought something unusual was going on when Portal was made downloadable for free.

From what one can gather from this video is that a possible demo for the game will be available perhaps during the summer because of the game alegedly coming out in the fall of this year. Creative new level design is also imenent. Fire, while not being new to the portal series, will likely be used more than in one level like it's predecessor. Expectations are no doubt high for the sequel to such a critically acclaimed game (see the review by Tom Francis of PC Gamer UK) one can only hope for the best; Valve hasen't let us down before right.

Two games in the last five years(well I liked GTA4 as well I suppose-and nobody else did)have made me think I'm abnormal. The first being Fallout3 which I despised for not being as great as previous Fallout games and having, imo, not one, but two questionable shooting mechanics:VATS which was arbitrary and the FPS aiming which was also seemingly arbitrary no matter how amazing my gun was. Everyone else loved it. But before that came Portal and with everyone seemingly on the Aperture love in with wildly erotic things written about both the game, it's cake and it's companion cube I, again, felt like a leper for thinking it was a bit easy and a bit dull. Thing is I'm not usually in possession of any "mad l337 skillz" but Portal was just that game that I found a piece of the proverbial(conversely Echochrome will be a mystery to me FOREVER). As a result I'm left totally puzzled by the world, his wife and her crabs loving it to tiny bits. Oh well, either I've got no taste or I was just unlucky enough to fluke every level on my first shot making it seem a bag of dullard easiness. Or both. Still not excited and I really wish I was. Anyway, for the rest of the universe-I hope you find any new Portal equally enthralling and I promise I'll try again(anything to fit in, eh?).

I think fire and bullets are is one of my biggest personal flaws.

Excellent, got the Still Alive standalone version on 360. For shuch a short game it really is a masterpeice, should be an interesting and compelling return for GlaDOS (and for more widely used internet culture phrases :p).
