According to the current LA Times bestseller The Psychopath Test, there's a 20-item checklist that will allow you to discern whether someone is psychotic. We'd like to think that maybe if such an efficient tool were available in the olden days, the business of working out whether someone was crazy might have been an easier one – but then we wouldn't get games like Alice: Madness Returns, released this week together with a bunch of day-one DLC.
The question is, do these added extras – which include perk-equipping dresses and destructive weapon additions – shed any light on the question of whether or not Alice is in fact insane?
The six new dresses, available in the Weapons of Madness and Dresses DLC Pack, include the Fleshmaiden, which allows you to use the Hysteria ability at any time, and the Checkmate, which doubles damage for all weapons. These would seem to indicate Glibness, Cunning and a Grandiose Sense of Self-Worth (Items 1, 2 and 4 on the Psychopath Checklist), not to mention Poor Behavioral Control, Impulsivity and Irresponsibility (items 11, 13 and 14). These are only two of the six items contained within the DLC: the pack also contains four weapons to restore health or double damage, ammo or armor.
Have you a tendency toward boredom or need for stimulus (item 11)? If so, will you be downloading these extras?
