The ¡Viva! festival has announced its 2007 line-up and it’s a strong selection, with a gaggle of Goya Award nominated films creating the bulk of the programme.
Jorge Sánchez-Cabezudo’s four Goya nominated La Noche De Los Girasoles (Night Of The Sunflowers) will appear, as will Daniel Sánchez Arévalo’s AzulOscuroasiNegro (DarkBlueAlmostBlack), which received six nods.
But the biggest story of this year’s ¡Viva! is the brand-new horror sidebar, which will include new and classic Hispanic titles, including the UK premiere of Bosque De Sombras (Backwoods) and an appearance from director Koldo Serra.
Festival Director Linda Pariser is certainly excited: “As the recent academy award nominations have proven, Spanish and Latin American cinema is firmly on the map and we are delighted to show some of the very finest Hispanic films”.
The festival runs from 15 – 25 March, at the Cornerhouse, Manchester.
