If Unreal Tournament 2007's stoopid graphics, oh-my-God physics, and announced PS3 title status doesn't peg the needle on your Hype-O-Meter, nothing will. Our first peek at this next-gen first-person shooter verged on a religious experience.
Developer Epic is taking its light-on-story-but-heavy-on-the-trigger shooter and layering on new vehicles, weapons and game modes, then wrapping the whole thing in savage graphics. At its core, UT2007 will remain a tournament-style blaster that sends you locking and loading against and alongside some of the cleverest AI bots in the biz. When you think you're ready, you can take your game to the next level against human opponents online.
Proven game modes receive core emphasis: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture-the-Flag and the "football-with-guns" Bombing Run. Unreal Tournament 2004, the previous installment, added Onslaught, a highly strategic team-oriented base-capturing contest. UT2007 will introduce an even bigger vehicle-based strategy struggle called Conquest, with maps up to three times as large as anything previously seen. They'll give you the chance to pilot improved vehicles like the Scorpion buggy and the Goliath tank.
