Xbox users reported an inability to purchase items from the Xbox store yesterday afternoon (or evening, for our non-US friends), and for more than 21 hours the service was unable to sign users into the proper channels. The situation appears to be resolved for now, but if things go sideways again, there's some background and resources for you below.
The aforementioned downtime only affected the ability to purchase digital games and add-ons. Multiplayer and streaming services like Netflix were working fine. So if, for example, you wanted to play a round of Halo 5: Guardians or go exploring the wasteland in Fallout 4, you could have done that - provided you owned a physical copy of the respective game.
All lights are green right now, but if you want to keep up to date on Xbox Live, you have several options. The Xbox Support Twitter account is providing regular updates, and the main Xbox Live support page is likewise reflecting the most recent state of Microsoft's network.
