Van Helsing movie reboot lands new scribes

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been thriving for a while now, but the next few years will see many studios join the shared storytelling party. Chief among those who RSVP'd to the invite is Universal, who are filling their own shared cinematic universe with classic monsters... and Van Helsing.

Variety is reporting that Jon Spaihts and Eric Heisserer have been hired to write a screenplay for a Van Helsing reboot. Spaihts has been busy of late; the Prometheus writer also penned the currently filming Doctor Strange for Marvel and has been hard at work for Universal on a reboot of The Mummy.

It's been over a decade since Hugh Jackman starred as the vigilante monster hunter, but he'll be back in a big way in the next two years. In addition to the movie, we'll also be getting a female-fronted TV show. Here's hoping they are more successful than Stephen Sommers' underwhelming 2004 effort.
