Transformers 3D on horizon?

When Michael Bay talked about Transformers 3 last year, he was adamant that the 3D “gimmick” wasn’t for him.

That was before Avatar . Thanks to Cameron’s continued success, Bay is apparently now in talks with Paramount and Industrial Light & Magic “about going 3D” with the third Transformers flick.

We’re not sure if it’s at the director’s behest. Last year he said:

“The way I shoot is too aggressive for 3D cameras. It’s a time consuming thing.

Who knows… It might be a fad. I’m kinda old school. I’m old school because I like to shoot on film. I like anamorphic lenses, and that is old school.”

But Paramount may force the director to keep up with the Joneses (in this case, the Cameronses).

Variety report that the “big stumbling block is the extra time required to do production and visual effects in 3D, as the movie’s release date is already set”.

Either way, it all starts with the script, and Transformers 3 or Transformers 3D needs some serious work in that department if it’s going to extricate itself from the wreckage of the second Transformers .
