Treyarch has confirmed that the PS3 version of CoD: Black Ops needs patching by announcing that it has released, and will continue to release bug-fixing patches.
As was noted by many players on the day following the game's release, there were numerous errors and glitches popping up on the PS3 that no one playing the 360 version seemed to be experiencing. Treyarch's patch is targeting only the PS3, so that speculation has been verified.
"Hey PS3 gamers, we are listening to you and we've been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community," wrote the company's community manager Josh Olin in an official message board.
According to Olin, some patches are already being pushed to players. These include fixes for a lot of the clipping and other graphical glitches, as well as the following problems:
- Crashing when viewing videos
- Wiping of user stats
- Improper display of online numbers
- Online parties becoming split up
However, there are more glitches, some of which are posing bigger problems. Treyarch continues to work to find fixes to these. In addition, Olin says that the following updates are in the works:
- Improved matchmaking for online games
- Improves networking conditions
- Weekly/Monthly leaderboards
Treyarch has also released a new patch for the PC version of the game which helps to combat the lag problems many players had been reporting. The Xbox 360 version, however, appears to be mostly dandy out of the gate, and is not receiving glitch fixes as hefty.
