The meltdown of Iceland... Wall Street playing the American economy like a rigged casino... The global financial collapse... How did we end up here?

Despite leaving you flailing at times with its sheer weight of detail, this superior documentary is packed to the gills with enraging, depressing answers as to what ignited the 2008 recession.

Everything pulls into hard focus as director/interviewer Charles Ferguson (already an Oscar nominee for 2007 Iraq doc No End In Sight) goes hunting for the culprits with a vengeance, making some very unctuous, rich and foolish men squirm like worms in vinegar.

Yet it’s tough to take any solace when we discover that Barack Obama is now being advised by the very men who assisted the disaster.
