The Edge Get Into Games Challenge 2015, in association with Unity and Abertay University, launched at the beginning of April.
The winner will be awarded with a trip for one to Unite 15, Unity’s annual developer conference, held this year in Boston from September 21 to 23, including Unite 15 ticket, return flights and accommodation for three nights; stand space at Abertay University’s Dare ProtoPlay festival to showcase your game to 13,000 attendees, and UK travel and accommodation expenses for two members of the team. The festival takes place August 13–16.
In addition, the winner and two runners-up will also each receive a Unity Pro licence, including including iOS Pro and Android Pro deployment add-ons – a package worth $3000.
As always, you can interpret the theme however you choose, and bear in mind that one third of the judging criteria will be based on how creatively you approach it. The judges will also consider the technical merit of your project, and its originality. This year, the panel consists of Doom and Quake designer John Romero; Funomena co-founder Robin Hunicke; Unity co-founder David Helgason; Dr Dayna Galloway, programme Tutor for BA (Hons) Game Design and Production Management at Abertay University; and the Edge team.

The rules:
- All entries must be submitted by the competition’s close on June 30.
- Design the game to the theme 'loot'. Interpretation of the theme is up to you.
- Individuals and teams of up to eight members can enter.
- All entries to be made in Unity 5. The use of properly licensed thirdparty assets and resources is allowed.
- Judging criteria: 33 per cent creative interpretation of the theme; 33 per cent technical merit; 33 per cent originality.
- Entrants will keep full rights to their games.
- Winners will be announced on or around the week of July 13.

How to enter your game:
Submit to edge@futurenet.com, using the subject line Edge Challenge (entries that do not include the correct subject line may be missed, and therefore deemed inapplicable), and include the following:
- A link to the game or an attachment containing a fully playable build of it.
- A summary of the game in no more than 100 words.
- Up to 100 additional words on how you interpreted the theme.
- Name and contact details of a nominated team leader.
- Three screenshots of the game, depicting gameplay.
